A would-be bridegroom went to a Croydon Church, but the bride failed to put in an appearance. She subsequently declined to marry him, alleging as her reason that he had no home to take her to. He accordingly sued her for the value of a wedding-ring, a carpet, aud a table, which he had handed over to her in view of their marriage. The magistrate ordered her to pay the amount claimed.
