AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above board was held last night. Present— Messrs J. Ashwell (chairman), E. Carr, E. Brown, A. Eussell, and A. Frew. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read— From the Secretary Timaru Harbor Board, acknowledging receipt of £4l6s lid, second instalment of contribution to harbor board, and stating that on the last instalment ten shillings had been short paid: and further that about £8 remained outstanding of the 1890 rate. The clerk stated that by a clerical error only £4 6s lid had been demanded. He submitted list of amounts received in connection with 1890 rates, and voucher for same. INTERVIEW. Mr Lynch waited upon the board. He had received a notice from the overseer relative to changing the site of the bridge. He could not see his way to make the cutting proposed free of charge. It was no advantage to him to have the site altered, and if the board had the creek cleaned, it would dispose of the backwater, which was the only thing that interfered with the putting in of concrete. —The question was discussed at some length, and ultimately Mr Lynch offered to alter the site and make the necessary cutting for 30s, any extra concrete to be ' paid for at the rate of 37s 6d per cubic yard. OVERSEER'S REPORT. The overseer reported that since the

special meeting he had caused three footbridges of substantial character to be erected in place of those submerged. The old timber had been utilized as far as

possible. Owing to the wet weather the work was nqt quite completed, but the man employed ijad made as much progress as was possible. The creek was very high, but had fallen about 8 inches since the erection of footbridges was commenced. No damage of importance had been done by the rain. RESERVES, ETC. It was resolved tfyat tlje clerk take steps to enforce payment of all outstanding rents of reserves. It was also resolved th,at a list of owners of all dogs unregistered after the 20th be handed to the police.
