The Amateur Championship Sports were postponed for an hour on account of the track being too soft from the rain of the previous night. The weather was dull and threatening, but there was a very good attendance. The programme opened at 3.30 with the 250 Yards Flat Championship.
The first heat was won by J. H. Hempton in 27 2-sth sees, and the second toy Peter Wood in 27 l-sth secß. Final Heat. T 3. Hempton (Hawke's Bay) 1 P. Wood (Christchurch) 2 IT. L. Gurr (Wellington) 3 Buchanan (Auckland) also started. Time—26 2-sth sees. Three Mile Walking Championship of New Zealand. (Record, 23min 37 2-sth sees.)

Kingston (Dunedin) 1 Wilson (Canterbury) 2 Hayward (Canterbury) 3 Clarkson and Ledaham (Canterbury) .also started. Won by 10 yards. Time, !9min 53 2-sth sees. Ten Mile Safety Bicycle Bace. Kerr (Sydney) 1 Willmot (North Canterbury) 2 Langdown (Canterbury) 3 •- Clarkson and Rallingshaw (Canterbury) also started. Kerr, going away as he liked, won by 500 yards. Time, 32min 49 2-sth sees. 120 Yards Hurdles. Moir (Canterbury) 1 Postlethwaite (Canterbury) t JBatger (Wellington) t Cuff won the first heat, and Batger the second, the final resulting as above. Time, 16 3-sth sees.
1 Mile Flat. IBurke (Dunedin) 1 Rees (Canterbury) 2 Wood (Canterbury) 3 Farquhar (Auckland), and Neil (Dunedin) also started. A great race resulted in a foot victory for Burke; Wood 4 yards away, third. Time, 4min 42 4-sth sees.
10 Mile Bicycle Race, Ordinary. I Clarkson (Canterbury) 1 . Hayward (Canterbury) 2 (Dunedin) 3 Thompson and Wilson also started. "Won by 2 yards, with Kingston 10 yards away third.
