Christchurch, Feb. 6

The Amateur Championship Sports were postponed for an hour on account of the track being too soft from the rain of the previous night. The weather was dull and threatening, but there was a very good attendance. The programme opened at 3.30 with the 250 Yards Flat Championship.

The first heat was won by J. H. Hempton in 27 2-sth sees, and the second toy Peter Wood in 27 l-sth secß. Final Heat. T 3. Hempton (Hawke's Bay) 1 P. Wood (Christchurch) 2 IT. L.
