London, Jan. 14. The Miners’ Federation have resolved to resist a reduction in wages. Fanis, Jan. 13, The strike of cabmen has ended, a compromise having been arranged between the parties, Sydney, Jan. 14. The secretary of the Miners’ Association has been dismissed for sticking to what is known as the general agreement. The final ballot of the Newcastle miners gives 621 for, 3352 against a reduction in the hewing rates. The delegates of the board decided that in collieries where the reduction has been made, 14 days’ notice should be given, dating from the 25th of the present month, of the intention of the miners to cease work.
