GREAT BUSH FIRES.

Sydney. Dec. 30. An immense amount of property has been destroyed by bush tires in the Nerandera district, about 350 miles inland. One fire swept everything before it for 30 miles. One death is reported. Pitiable tales are coming in from the country as to the ravages of bush fires. Homesteads have been burnt ; the wheat and barley crops are suffering from the scarcity of water; the prevaling heat is excessive and has reached nearly 120 in the shade out west. In Sydney to-day it was over 100. Melbourne, Dec. 30. Sixty thousand acres of grass and large areas of standing crops in the Kyabram district, 113 miles north of Melbourne, have been destroyed by bush fires.
