SOUTH ORARI SCHOOL TREAT.
Although the weather was not at its best on Tussday, the paddock next the South Orari School was quite lively with picnickers; both old and young. The early morning was damp, but about 11 a.m. the weather cleared up and the children were assembled, and, after a number of games, were treated to the good, things from Mr McCaskill’s bakehouse. Sports were the chief feature of the day’s amusement, and were superintended by Miss Balfour and Messrs Bates, Wakely (2), McLeod (2), and Bracefield. Coles 1. Tea was served out at 5.30, and the sports were concluded at 7.30. The tea and refreshments were attended to by Mesdames O’Neill, Bracefield, and Canavan, and Misses Bates (2), Balfour, McLeod, Campbell, May (2), and others.—At night a dance was held, when twenty couples occupied the floor, dancing to the music supplied by Mr H. Wilson. Mr J. Bracefield acted as M.C., and dancing concluded in the early part of the following morning.
