MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the" above board was held "in the, Road Board Office, Peel Forest,*"on Friday,' the 18th iust • The members present were the Hon if, B. Af ( Acknd (chairman), Messrs C. G Tripp, G ','>■ X Dennistoun. . Mi v ... D Macfarlane, tlie newly-appointed clerk and overseer, was also in .attendance. ;, CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and dealt From Mr J. T. Smith, forwarding the deviation of. road .lines through, the RainclifFipriperty)—The overseer stated that on receipt of the plans he had forwarded ,shem to the survey office, Christfor |the approval of the Chief Surveyor, for purposes of the Public Works Act. From Mr C. G. Tripp, calling attention to the descrepencies in the boundaries of the .district as described on the Geraldine Tload Boari map, and the Mount Peel district map, and that a portion of the bridle,track formerly kept in repair by the* Geraldine Board was in the Mount Peel district.—Resolved: " That the clerk write to the Geraldine Board, pointing out that the part of the track from Barker's gate is situate in their district according to the map of the Mount Peel district, and has always been kept in repair by them, and for description of boundaries refer them to the Government Gazette of April 30th, 1883 ; also, state that the Mount Peel map is certified to by the Chief Surveyor as correct, and corresponds with the description given in the-Gazette." From the Geraldine County Council, advising that the second instalment of the contribution due to the Timaru Harbor Board was now due, and requesting that the amount be paid on or before the Ist December.—The amount was passed for payment. INTERVIEWS. Mr William Smith had an interview •with the,board, in reference to his contract ojf clearing the road line in Peel Forest, complaining that the line as pointed out to him did not correspond with the pegs on the ground.^—The overseer was instructed to inspect the line. Mr J. Ferguson waited on the board requesting that the road be shingled from the boundary road to section 3968.—The overseer to report at next meeting. Mr C. Pye interviewed the board offering a rent for the board's premises at Fairlie Creek, which was accepted. overseer's report. The overseer's report was read, when it was resolved—" That the overseer be empowered to make arrangements for keeping fyrds^and.river crossings iu repair in the Rainciiff and Clayton districts; also to have the office and dwelling house repaired, the cost not to exceed £20." Resolved —" That notice be given that all unpaid rates will.be sued for." Accounts amounting to £282 17s 4d were passed for payment, after which the board adjourned.
