FISHING COMPETITION.

The Geraldine County Anglers Society held their annufil fishing competition on Anniversary D.iy. The weather was favorable on the whole, but for some part of the day there was an unpleasant breeze. The competition was confined to members of the society only, an 4 the conditions were the same as last year with the exception -that fish under 10 inches were excluded. There were seven entries for Class I. and four for Class 11., a poor entry compared with other seasons. The baskets, however, although not weighty were very good, the average of the fish and their condition being excellent. The fish were weighed by Mr P. Coira and exhibited in the sample room of the Wallingford Hotel, kindly lent for the occasion by Mr M. Scannell. The judges were Messrs A. M. Clark and Pritt (an English visitor) and the following are the m awards:—Class 1, for artificial fly I only. Hours 8 a.m. 10 p.m.—lst (for heaviest basket), value 21s, with privilege of winner's name and take being, engraved .on trophy presented by ft. H. Rhodes Esq. : N.' C. Nicholas (45 fisli 33ilb); second prize, yalue 15,8 (best average) \y, (If fisji 2?flb); 3rd prize, value 15s (largest number), W, Mendelson (28 fish, 161 b).
