This shark was captured by Lieut. Fitton, R. N., while cruising in the West Indies. A bundle of papers found on opening the shark proved to belong to an American brig, the Nancy, which had been overhauled by a British man-of-war. and sacrificed her papers to escape condemnation as a lawful prize to the British ship.
