A TERRIBLE OUTRAGE.

New York, Dec. 6. Excitement was occasioned in the city to-day when it was learned that an attempt had been made to murder Mr Russell Sage, the millionaire, and wreck his office. It appears that a couple of strangers entered the office and demanded 1,000,000 dollars on pain of death, at the same time showing dynamite bombs. Their request vfas refused, whereupon the bombs were thrown on the floor, terrific explosion followed, and the building was wrecked. The miscreants, five c|grks belonging to the office, and a lady tye r writer, were killed. Mr Sage and several friends were only slightly injured. The former had a miraculous escape. The perpetrators Of the outrage were lunatics, and ope of them had developed suicidal mania. The type-writer, who was in an adjoining room to where the explosion occurred, was literally blown to pieces, while the others who were killed had their limbs broken off. A telegraph clerk and one of the miscreants were beheaded. The office which was wrecked rocked as if by an earthquake, I?he adjoinjug buildings suffered from the explosion. Mr Sage was attempting to temporise with the men, whereupon the bomb was thrown.
