TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the above board, was held last night. Present— Messrs J. Blyth (chairman), P. Coira, G. Masoi&'Wjf Storey, and S. Clinch. £ V .' CORKESPONDBNCB. From'the. Revels Boad Board, stating that; they.had, taken no action, re the alteration of electoral boundary. ; _. From the Bepresentation Commissioners, stating that after due consideration they _were meeting the wishes of the ratepayers in retaining the name ofjPareora for the new electorate, and boundaries could riot be altered to advantage. Mr Monahan applied for a progress payment on account of asphalting.—-It was .resolved, to pay the contractor £35
on account. : . In connection with the asphalt;: Mr Storey drew attention to the damage done;to the Work while in course of formation. Children upon one particular section had cut it up terribly. Mr Coirajhad noticed the same. TKe iriaiiier was discussed, but as no complaint had been made by the contractor the board did not see its way to interfere. ■■■■■■:: It was agreed, however, to support the contractor if he found it necessary to complain to the police. overseer's report.
The overseer reported to the following had as far as practicable carried out instructions given at last meeting. .rJHe had made arrangements for clay to blind footpath shingle,. but recommended admixture of sand. He reported upon the progress of contracts. He suggested the cutting of grass in the Town Board section, and also the fencing of a, portion of the B»me. He
reminded, the board of the necessity for obtaining a supply of collars. He had found a limited number of unregistered dogs, and had notified the police. No further steps had been taken in the removal of the brick house. The culvert asked for by Mr Marshall had not-been put down. If members of the board desired to examine the kerbing at Railway Terraca prior to asphalting it would be necessary to do so at once. The stoppage of the drainage in Vine Street had been removed. In connection with the overseer's report it was agreed that members Bhould inspect ths ground around the office before deciding as to whether it should be fenced or not. Mr Clinch stated that Mr Marshall had not been able to put down culvert as requested. No damage was done to the kerbing. BOARD OF HEAITH. The overseer reported uprn drainage from the Temuka Hotel, and the. condition of Vine Street, which required thoroughly cleaning out. The occupier of the hotel had been notified. A complaint had been made by the nightman of an improperly furnished closet.The" inspector received general instructions to attend to complaints. MISCELLANEOUS. The clerk, in reply to an enquiry, said that the rates were coming in very slowly, and he was requested to use his best endeavours to get them collected, in -.view of the heavy expenditure recently incurred. He was authorised to obtain a supply of dog collars from Mr Brewer at the usual rate.
ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £B7 10s: were passed for payment. . The meeting then terminated.
