DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS.
Tiie following is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat —Market has inquiry, prices are firm. Good samples are very scarce. Prime wheats, 4s lOd to 5s ; other good milling sorts, 4s 6d to 4s 8d; fowls’ wheat, good whole, 4s to 4s 3d. Prime Nelson hops, Is, Onions —Scarce, £lO to £l2.
Barley—Malting, 3s to 3s 3d; milling, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; feed, 2s to 2s 3d. Pearl barley, £l3. Oats—Best milling and seed, Is 6d to Is 7d; bright plump feed rang© from Is 6d to Is 7d ; other sorts, Is 3d to Is 4d—all sacks extra, off trucks, and ex store. Flour —Roller, £l3, f.o.b. Timaru ; stone, £l2 ss. Oatmeal—£B 10s to £lO 10s.
Bran—£3. Sharps, £4. Potatoes—3os per ton ; good quality wanted.
Pigs—l4olb to 160 ft), well fed, 2sd to 2fd, and scarcely any buyers at that low figure; large sizes not saleable ; hams 7d; bacon, sd, Chaff—Up to £2 16s for prime. Straw (Oaten and wheaten), 30s. Hay—(Oaten), £3; clover and ryegrass hay, £3 5s to £3 10s. Butter —Prime salt, nominal at 7£d; fresh plentiful. Eggs are now getting more plentiful and have eased ofl. Honey —5d per lb. Cheese —In demand; stocks are now getting short. Factory, 54d; dairy, sd. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, 3s 6d to 5s 9d; cocksfoot, 4fd to s£d per ft.
Sheepskins continue in good demand, well-saved shipping lines being in special request. At auction on Tuesday quotations ranged as follows Town butchers green skins, crossbreds, 6s 4d to 4s Gd ; merinos, ssld to 4s. Dry country skins, crossbred, 6s 6d to 3s; merino, 5s 9d to 2s 6d;:short woolled skins, 2s 3d to Is; green lambskins, Is 6d to Is.' Hides —Prime heavy hides are in good request, but inferior, light and cut are almost unsaleable. Quotations ; —Heavy ox (dry salted), 3*d to 3Jd; ordinary do, IJd to 2fd ; damaged do, id to l|d; green ox (heavy), 18s to 23s each; ordinary ox, 12s to 16s do ; light ox and cow, 6s to 10s do. Tallow—The market is bare of all descriptions, and good prices are readily obtainable for all lots coming forward. Quotations :—Prime mutton and tallow in shipping condition, £2l to £22 10s; prime mixed do, £2O to £2l; medium, £l7 to £l9; inferior, £l2 to £l6 ; best caul fat, £l3 to £l4 ; inferior to mixed, £9 to £l2los. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Market on Wednesday the following business was transacted: — . , , Fat Cattle—Only 120 head yarded, and about two thirds of this number were from f'ood to prime quality, the remaining one-third being little better than forward conditioned stores. A very brisk demand was experienced and excellent prices were obtained. Best .bullocks brought from £9 10s to £lO 17s 6d ; good bullocks, Xi to £9: light bullocks, £5 to £6 10s ; best cows! £7 to £8 15s ; good cows, £4 10s to £6 10s; aged and inferior cows, £2 to £3 17s 6d. Fat Sheep—Only 1302 penned, and this following on last week’s bare market caused very animated bidding amongst the buyers, and the extreme prices obtained then were fully maintained. Prime crossbred wethers (in wool) made 19s to 20s 6d; ordinary do, 17s to 18s 6d; light do. 15s to 16s; prime do (shorn''. 13s to 14s 6d ; ordinary do. lls to 12s 6d; ir'ime crossbred ewes, very heavy (in wool), 20s to 225; good do, 17stol8s; light do, 14s to 16s ; prime do, (shorn). 12s 6d to las 9cl; merino wethers, 13s
toJss. , ~ Eat Lambs —372 penned, and sold very readily at from 7s Gd to 12s 9d. pjgs—The number forward was small viz., 139 —and it was made up principally of porkers, slips, and suckers. Liriit bacon pigs, 25s to 30s ; porkers, 18s to. 24s ; slips. 12s to 10s; suckers, 8s to Us. There is a good enquiry for strong stores. ENGLISH AND FOREIGN MARKETS, London, Nov. 9. The New Zealand and Australian Land Company have declared a dividend of 10 per cent. To provide this, however, £15.000 has been taken from the reserve fund. The business has largely increased during the year, but the profits have proportionately been less. r Nov. 11. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,34V00 quarters, and for the Ooniinout 1,948 000 quarters. The wool sales opened weak, with a fall of from 5 to 10 centimes for River Plate wool, and Jd for Australian.
