CLEVER DENTISTS.

Mr. T. Snell, of 24 St. Mary’s Street, Southampton, who was in Kimberley, South Africa, in July, 1883, extracted 27 teeth at one sitting from the mouth of one of the chief officials at the Kimberly Post Office (says a London paper). In the skilful hands of Mr Snell, the operation only took about five minutes. Mr. H. W. Griffin, of 47 Church-street, Leigh, once extracted 21 teeth at one sitting. These were all taken from a yonng lady, aged 24. Mr StanfordBartan, 46 Cornmarket-street, Oxford, recently extracted 25 teeth from a gentleman without the aid of gas. The patient was little inconvenienced by this attack on his teeth that he actually helped to pick them up. Some time ago a young lady in Ayr, had 22 teeth extracted at a single sitting. Fra Orsenico, a monk in Rome, is the most remarkable dentist in Europe, and operates in Japanese fashion by means of his finger and thumb. He generally extracts 300 teeth a day, and has drawn as many as 400 teeth in a single day. He keeps all the teeth he extracts, and in his room are two solid oak chests, without lids, filled with teeth. Thousand upon thousand of teeth of all sizes lie piled up in these boxes, the results of the monk’s industry. Artificial teethmaking seems to be a profitable business, for, only the other day, a London dentist, in course of legal proceedings, stated that, having made a speciality of guinea sets of teeth, his profits reached £3OOO a year.
