GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening. Present— Messrs White (chairman), A. Sherratt, N. Dunlop, Williams, Maslin, and mond,CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : From A. E, G. Rhodes, M.H.R., with regard to the altering of the constituency. He thought the Representation Committee should alter it to Geraldine, and he would urge them, to do so. He quite agreed with the board that the residents dii the south of Rangitata have no more community of interest with the residents . in-the new Pareora electorate than with the people between the Rangitata and the Ashburton. He should personally have liked to see the Rangitata taken as the northern boundary of an electorate, but,was afraid the commissioners would find it necessary to cut up all the other electorates in the colony to effect the change. From Mr F. Archer, clerk to Temuka Road Board, asking an expression of opinion re the proposed new boundaries; his board was very dissatisfied with same. —lt was, resolved : “ That a copy of correspondence, &c., connected with this matter be sent to the Temuka Road Board, together with all resolutions passed by the board ; also that the board is willing to amalgamate with the Temuka Road Board on the matter.” They were strongly of opinion that Rangitata should be the boundary. From the trustees of the Volunteer Hall, making application for a crossing to be placed over the water-race opposite the side door of the Drill Shed.—lt was agreed that, seeing that there were already two crossings for the benefit of the hall put down, this board cannot put down another at the public expense, but will only put one down at the expense of the trustees of the hall. From Mr E. Johns, re rates, Received, REPORTS. The poundkeeper’s report on stray cattle was received. The overseer reported inter alia that all the water on the west side of the street was running into a hole in theasphalt a little below the town board office.—lt was agreed to leave the channel in its present dried-up state, and not turn the water down. • FINANCIAL. It was decided to make a demand of £2O from the Domain Board. The pay-sheet amounted to £2114s fid. It was resolved to redeposit £SO in the Bank of New Zealand for six months. ASPHALTING. Mr Maslin pointed out that the asphalt on the footpaths required attending to, and it was left to the works committee and the overseer to get specifications for the work to be done, and have tenders in by next meeting for filling up hollows and floating over the whole length of the asphalt in Geraldine. OFFICE HOURS. It was agreed to have a notice of office hours painted in gilt letters, to be placed up for the convenience of the public. Sherratt. ; . • , ' TENDERS. ■; The chairman stated Mr Fly’s tender had been accepted at £1 4s for cutting the fence round the small park; also that the tender of 0. E. Sherratt of £6 2s fid for the remainder of firewood in the bush had been accepted. WORKS. The overseer was instructed to get one or two men to help him to burn off all the loose scrub in the bush. It was left to the works committee to have full power to have the fence round the park leased cut, and to take prompt action, to have the gorse cleared before next meeting. , , . It was. agreed to call tenders for cutting grass in the little park. FINANCIAL. , It was carried that the sum of £2O be paid to the Town Board. The board then rose.
