AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Messrs Grade, Maclean, and Co. report for the past fortnight, as follows : Horses— At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 24th inst., a very small entry and very little business was done between sellers and buyers. At the annual sale of exhibited stock held the day following the show, in the horse bazaar, a very large entry came forward and sold as follows : On account of Mr E. Timaru Rhodes, who lias resigned the mastership of the South Canterbury hounds, we submitted the whole of his magnificent stud of hunters, all of which found buyers at satisfactory prices. Black gelding Selim, 6yrs, 95 guineas, Mr J. S. Rutherford (for a friend; b m Zseo," syrs, 57 guineas, Mr Greenword, North Canterbury ; b g Sir Roger, syrs, 32 guineas, Mr W. Evans ; b g Aorangi, 4yrs, 30 guineas, b g Charlie, 7yrs; 25 guineas, and b g The Monk,' 15 guineas, all to Mr,Bacon, of Dunedin : g m Gipsy Maid, 17 guineas, Mr Neave; b g A.G., 22 guineas, Mr Palairet; b g Golden Eagle, 12 guineas, Mr James Meehan; ch g Chutuee, 11 guineas, Mr Crowe. On account of Mr
J. H. Gidson, blk g Blackbird, at 38 guineas, to Christchurch Hunt Club ; on account of Messrs T. Shaw, J. Shaw, H. Smith, F. Perry, Burt, Miller, Daley, Geauey, Morris, and others, hacks and light harness horses, from £lO to 25 guineas. At the bi-annual sale of horses at Washdyke yards on Friday, we entered 42 horses of all sorts, and placed on account of Messrs Stoddart, Mullins, Evans, Bacon, Kelland, Davie, Shaw, Smith, and others, almost the whole entry at —for draughts up to £22, hacks to £l6, weeds from 20s to 70s. On Saturday our entry consisted of 37 head, principally light horses, a large proportion finding new owners at satisfactory price, draughts sold at up to £25. Sheep and Cattle.—Very little business l in either cattle or sheep has been done owing to the show. The usual sale at Washdyde was not held this week.
Sheepskins—-Since our last we have to report a further drop in sheepskins, and the bottom prices has now been reached. Privately we have placed 1500 freezing skins at satisfactory prices. Private Sales—We held a very successful sale at Waitohi on account of MiMark Seales, who has disposed of his farm. The British public mustered in force, and good prices were the order of the day.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Oct. 30. New Zealand potatoes, £2 5s per ton. Butter, dairy-made, 10d per ib ; factorymade, lOd. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 30. New Zealand off coast cargoes of wheat are quoted at 41s 2d per quarter by sellers ; buyers offer 6d less. The instalment call of the National Bank of New Zealand has been paid, and the business of the bank is generally regarded as satisfactory.
