GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening last. Present—Messrs White (chairman), Hammond, A. Sherratt, Maslin, Dunlop, Williams, and Mundell. UNREGISTEBED DOGS. It was resolved, after discussing the inspector’s report on unregistered dogs—- “ That summonses be issued against all persons having unregistered dogs.” INTERVIEW. Mr Huffey waited on the board, asking assistance in clearing gorse and broom 1 from his section. —It was resolved “ That without prejudice to the lease, this board will allow Mr Huffey the sum of £lO to clear gorse and broom off his reserve on condition that he plough the whole and lay it down with English grass, and leave the same clear of gorse and broom at the end of the lease.” petition. A petition was received from the Rev. James Preston, Doctor Fish, and Mr H. W. Moore, asking the Board to continue the pathway, Dow being made, up to the gate leading into the Parsonage. The vestry of the Church of Englan d would then take up the gorse fence fronting the main road between Mr White’s and Mr Shier’s land, and would replace it with a wire fence and macrocarpa. They also asked that the board place a footbridge by the side of the present traffic bridge, as at present there was great danger to foot-passengers at night.—lt was resolved—“ That on removal of the gorse fence the board will carry out the petitions of the petitioners.” CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : . From Mr L. Newport, stating he had erected a new shop on a level with the footpath, and as he would require to take horses over the footpath he would ask the Board to have a crossing formed. —It was agreed—“ That a culvert be put dqwn, and it be left to the Works Committee to decide which culvert shall be removed from an unnecessary position to Mr Newport’s.” From Mr J. W. Winstone, asking to have his name placed on the roll as occupier of allotments 4 and 5, Geraldine. —Granted. From Mr W. R. Andrews asking to have the name of James Riordan, substituted for his name on the rate roll, he having purchased rural section 6006. Granted. reports. The ranger’s report on stray cattle, and the overseer’s report on work done, were read. rates. Mr Maslin moved, and Mr Dunlop seconded, and it was carried—“ That this board strike a rate of a half-penny in the £, payable in one sum on the sth day of November 1891, at the board’s office.” ACCOUNTS. The pay-sheet amounting to £3O 8s Id, and an account of £5 4s 6d were pass ed for payment. The board then rose. GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD. The monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening, and attended by Messrs White (chairman), Hammond, A. Sherratt, Maslin, Dunlop,, and Williams. TENDERS. The tender of Mr R. Hammond, of £3 per year for one year for grazing rights of Geraldine Domain, subject to his giving up possession at any time at a month’s notice, was accepted. sale of firewood. The chairman stated a sale of firewood in the bush had been held during the month,and the accounts of sales amounted to £4917s 7d, after deducting expenses. It was left to the Works Committee to dispose of certain wood in the bush for prompt cash at a price not less than the amount paid for it by the Board. accounts! Accounts amounting to £36 9s lOfd were passed for payment. THE LITTLE PARK. It was agreed to call for tenders for cutting gorse fences at The Little Park. The meeting then terminated.
