The attendance on the second day was nearly as good as the first, notwithstanding that a severe nor-wester was blowing across the grounds making everyone feel disagreeable. The people in the grand stand were sheltered from it more than those on any other part of the ground, and it is not to be wondered at that the grand stand was patronised more than on the first day. Towards evening, however, the wind changed and a cold sou-wester blew, making things unpleasant on all parts of the grouud. Things went very smoothly throughout the day and there was an absence of fighting or drunkenness. There were some very good dividends; £l3 14s 'dividend waj» paid on the Stewards' Stakes, and £l4 6s on the Disposal Stakes. The sum put through the totalisator was larger than the first day being £1,924; making a grand total for both daysof £3,790. Seven good looking youngsters the progeny of Mr M. Connolly's Hanlah started for the Hanlan Stakes' and were the admiration of all local sporting men. The following are the results of the racing : Stewards' District Handicap, of 30 sovs.; 5 sovs. from the stake to go to the Becond horse. Welter weights. 7 furlongs. Mr R. Thackeray again played up on the course as on the first day, and delayed the race for over 15 minutes. When a start was made Thackeray was left far in the rear. Jacob Faithful took tlie lead, bolting straight away. Mailboy, however, who was lying second till the, first turn was not to be outstripped, and pulled up first "till coming into the straight, when Jacob Faithful was seen abreast with Tomatu and The Ace lying third. A splendid race home was the result, The Ace making a final spurt and keeping ground well passed the flag a short head from Tomatu. The win was so close that several spectators murmured at the decision of the judge. Disposal Stakes, of 30 sovs. No weight under Sst. Endeavoring to get up on the inside, Beach got blocked, and allowed Saddler to) win| rather easily by a length. Oarsmaid was a bare third.
