AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the fortnight ending Saturday, Sept. 26th, 1891, as follows : GERALDINE YARDS. At the above yards on Wednesday, the 16th, the number of sheep, cattle, and pigs yarded was the smallest we have had for a considerable time. 1300 sheep, 24 cattle, and 19 pigs made up the entry; for the day’s business. Prices lately Ruling were well maintained. Ouxft quotations are as follow Sheep—Halfbred , wethers maiden ewes 2 and 4-tooth (fat) 15s 7d do do do 14s Bd, merino wethers (fat) 6s sd, 7s 6d, to Bs, three-quarter-bred hoggets 12s, 12s 6d, to 12s Bd, halfbred hoggets ;lis, three-qiiarterbred ewes in lamb 10s 3d. Cattle—Fat covys £4 10s, springing £2 10s to £3 3s, dry cows £1 15s to £2 ss, 2-year old steers £2 10s to £2 15s, ' yearlings £1 5s to £1 10s, calves 10s to 15s. Pigs—Breeding sows 11s to 14s each; weaners 3s 6d to ss. TEMUKA YARDS. At the above yards on Tuesday, 22nd, the yarding: consisted of 1500 sheep, 130 cattle, and 45 pigs. Prices realised were as follows Sheep—Halfbred wethers and maiden ewes 2-tooth 1 fat 15s to 15s Bd, threeqiiafterbred Wethers and maiden ewes 2-tooth (stores) 14s3d, three-quarter bred hoggets 11s 6d to 12s, threequarterbred ewes in lamb 12s 6d to 12s 9d, do do fat 12s 3d to 12s 6d. Cattle —Fat steers and heifers £6 7s 6d to £6 17s 6d, do cows £3 15s £4los to £6 ss, cows springing £3 10s, £4 15s, to £6, 2-year-old steers and heifers £1 17s 6d to £2 ss, dry cows £1 10s to £2. Pigs— Porkers 11s 9d to 12s strong stores 7s 3d to Bs, weaners 6s, Sheesktns, etc. —On Wednesday last at the stores of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Timaru, we held our usual fortnightly sale of wool; hides, and tallow, our catalogue comprising a large entry of both green and dry skins, and we have to record a decline in values of from 9d to Is per skin all round. Best butchers’ crossbreds realised 5 s 6d, 5 s 9d, to SslOd, medium 4s9d to ss, merinos 3s 3d, 3s 6d, to, 3s 9d, dry skins to sfd per lb ; bag/wool 4|d to 5d per lb, rough, fat, 12s 6d per cwt.; hides remain at late rates. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Sept. 26. Butter, local dairy-made, 8d ; factory made, lOd. New Zealand potatoes, £1 to £1 ,2s 6d. ENGLISH AND FOREIGN ’MARKETS London, Sept. 24, Foreign buyers, are active at the wool sales, but it is believed the McKinley tariff is responsible in part for the fall in prices. There is a revival in the iron trades. London, Sept. 25. New Zealand 4 per cent inscribed stock, New Zealand long-derried wheat is firm at 445. For cargoes on passage, sellers ask 435, but buyers only offer 42s 6d. Canterbury frozen mutton, 4£d per lb; lamb, 6d; beef hind-quarters, 4lff. New Zealand hemp is dull and has declined 10s per ton. Fair quality is quoted at £2O per ton. South Australian wheat is firm at 455. Victorian isalso firm at 44s 6d. The wool market is quiet. American buyers have taken barely 200 bales.
