AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Messrs Grade, Maclean, and Co. report for the past fortnight, as follows : Horses—At the Timaru Horse Bazaar our entries have been small, but any draughts suitable for farm work which came forward found buyers as under. Hacks up to weight and upstanding harness horse are in request. We quote medium to good draughts at from £ll to £23, inferior £6 to £lO. Hacks and light harness horses at—for- medium to good £9 to £l6 10s, light and weedy £3 to £7. Sheep—At Pleasant Point, on the 14th inst., the yards were well filled with for the most part lines of good quality. We sold 75 crossbred hoggets at 10s, 98 do do at 11s Id, 200 do do at lls 3d, 80 fat wethers at 16s Bd, 28 do ewes at 14s 6d, 37 do do at lls 6d, 21 do wethers 16s, 26 ewes at 8s 4d, 60 prime 2-tooth crossbred wethers at 19s Id, 9 ewes at 16s 9d. At Temuka, on the Bth inst., there was a large entry and satisfactory sales at prices equal to rates previously ruling ; we sold 64 2-tooth wethers at 15a 3d, 232 crossbred ewes in lamb at 14s 9d, 31 ewes with lambs: at 17s 7d, 149 crossbred hoggets at 12s 9d, 200 three-quarterbred hoggets at 12s. At Washdyke we sold 90 fat ewes at 12s lOd, 101 do do at 14s 2d, 28 do do at 12s 6d,20 do do at 10s 6d,and privately 2410 merino ewes and wethers. Cattle—There is very little business doing at any of the yards at present. We have sold fat heifers at £5 ss, 2-year-olds at £2los to £2 15s, dry cows at 30s to 60s. Skins—At our regular sale on the 9th inst. our Jcatalsgue was a small one, and although the usual number of buyers were present prices were for best skins 6d to 9d lower than our former sale. Privately we have placed several lines of factory skins. 1 AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Sept. 18. Butter, dairy-made, has declined to lOd per lb, and factory-made to Is. Melbourne, Sept. 17. Large buyers are cornering the wheat market, and have bought up mearly all the available stocks. Wheat is now quoted at 6s, and is expected to go even higher. ENGLISH AND FOREIGN MARKETS' London, Sept. 17. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 104 f ; 3J per cent, ditto, 94. New Zealand long-berried wheat is quiet at 445. For cargoes on passage, sellers ask 42a 6d, but buyers offer 425. Stocks of frozen mutton are low Canterbury, 4jd per lb ; lamb, 6d ; beef hindquarters, 4jd. New Zealand hemp is in poor demand; good quality, £23 per ton; fair to medium, £2l ss, At the wool sales prices are unaltered. The South Australian wheat market is quiet at 46s 6d, and the Victorian is flat at 445.
