London, August 29. Tallow—Average beef, 25s 6d to 26s ; mutton, 28s. The English wheat market is steady and Continental firm, but American is declining. For cargoes of Australian wheat, off-coast sellers ask 45s 6d, but buyers are only willing to give 44s 6d. At an auction sale of Australian woolled sheepskins there was a moderate attendance of Home and Foreign buyers. The prices showed a slight decline, the rates realised being crossbreds, medium, greasy 6d; merinos ditto, s£d. August 31. Wheat is firm. In the provincial markets it is selling at 48s to 60s. The market rate of discount has risen to 2 per cent., owing to an impression that there will shortly be a scarcity of money. Sept. 1. The English harvest has been suspended owing to wet, and the crops are rotting in the fields. Calcutta, Sept 1. The Indian export of wheat is the largest since 1874. . , ,
