CONCERT AT ORARI.
The people in the vicinity of Orari must be very enthusiastic about anything they take in hand, for the very heavy weather of Friday last did not in any way tend to reduce the attendance at the concert and dance given on that evening in aid of the incidental fund; the school house was crammed. MrArchibald,M.A.,occupied the chair. Songs were rendered in capital style by Miss Andrews, and Mr McCaskill, the former singing " Thady O'Flin," and the later " The Parson and the clock." The Black Star Minstrels then went through their variety entertainment, and, judging by the frequent applause of thosej present, they acquitted themselves well. Their programme was opened with an overture on the piano by Mr R. McLeod, followed by a chorus, « Gwine down the Ribber," by the company. Songs and ballads were then sung as follows :—" Don't forget the fireside," Mr F. Colville. " Upidee "Mr J. Elder; " Meet me, Katie, with a kiss," Mr J. Collins; « Meet me at the Golden Gate," Mr A. Clinch. " There's a light in the window," Mr G. Collins; " Dinah said y*h," Mr J. Elder; " A mother is the best friend after all," Mr H. Colville; « All for the sake of Sarah," Mr A. Clinch ; «I'll take you home again, Kathleen," Mr G. Barrett; and «Go tell old aunt Mary," cJlwas the finale by the company. A very ' laughable sketch entitled "Bruised .and cured," was then gone through by Messrs .J. and W. Collins. This item fairly brought down the house. Mr A. Clinch gave a song in character, Mr G. Barrett sang the ballad «My Son " ; and Mr J. Collins "The Sailor Boy." The programme concluded with the farce " Killed by kindness." After the concert an enjoyable dance was held, Mr Alex. Bisset acting as M.C., and Messrs Collville and Goodwillie supplying the music. Refreshments were provided by the Committee, to whom great credit is due for much of the succcess which attended the concert and dance. The performers were afterwards entertained at Mr Bracefield's house.
