CHARGES OF CORRUPTION.

Ottawa, August 11. Sir H. Langevin, examined before the Committee of Enquiry, categorically denied the charges of corruption. The Senate of Quebec is determined to sift the Baie Chauler Railway scandal to the bottom, and refused permission to withdraw the Bill now before the Parliament of that Province. Pacaud, Financial Manager for the Hon. M. Mercier, Premier of Quebec, is charged with receiving a hnndred thousand dollars. The Senate threatened to arrest all the principals connected in the affair. . Sir H. W. Langevin has resigned his position in the Ministry. August 12.

In his" evidence to-day Sir H. Langevin swore that he never received any money from McGreevy, though he gave him promissory notes for 10,000 dollars for election expenses in 1870. he being then without money.
