A Tasmanian Yarn.—A man drank a tumbler of kerosene in mistake for gin, andjthe Tasmanian Tribune, in reportiug the incident, says that, emetics proving useless, the following happy idea occurred to a bystander :—A long piece of worsted yarn was obtained, one end made in a ball the size of a pill, and the other inserted through a pipe-stem. The ball was swallowed by> the patient, and the pipe-stem placed between his teeth. \ffcer a few moments, to permit the .vorsted ball to becoma thoroughly saturated with oil, the operator lighted the end of the worsted that projected from the pipe stem. The thread burned with a steady light for 2 hours 20J minutes, and :;hen suddenly expired. The patient jumped up, completely relieved of his langerous "nobbier," and warmly showed his gratitude to his preserver. However much the patient may have enjoyed it, the yarn is more than we can swallow.
