The Picturesque Atlas. —At the Invercargill B.M. Court on Wednesday Lindley Bowerxnan sued Thomas Lamport, hotelkeeper, for £25 16s, damages sustained in consequence of the loss, on the 13th May, of a buggy from defendant’s premises while the plaintiff was a lodger in the Drummond Hotel and the buggy was in defendant’s custody, he having negligently suffered it to be stolen. Mr Bowerxnan was engaged in the delivery of the “ Atlas ” in the district at the time and it is supposed that some irate'subscribers had made away with the trap, no trace of which has since been found. Mr Moore, owner of the buggy, recovered the amount now sued for from Mrßowerman. The application of defendant was adjourned until the 12th August. The Auckland and Wellington Chambers of Commerce have also passed resolutions disagreeing with the proposals. The Auckland Chamber, however, thinks that whatever changes are going to be made should be made at once, while, the Wellington Chamber thinks the country should be given time to consider the proposals.
