The free pardon granted to Mr Waltef Tricker was presented to him at a public meeting at Bulls on Tuesday evening. The meeting nlso decided to petition th e Government for reparation to Mr Tricker for the great injustice done him. Replying to the presentation Mr Tricker, who was very much agitated, said: “ Ladies and 1 gentlemen, for the last 26 years I have been branded as a felon, and my life crushed up to nothing. During the latter part of my 43 years residence in Rangitikei X have been crucified and branded wrongly. I am not able to. speak, but I have an English heart and can appreciate the kindness of the Honorable Johnson, Archdeacon Stock, and the chairman, who’ came to see me in prison. My alibi was proved to be true.” The meeting was a very representative one, all the leading settlers being present, and congratulatory telegrams were recieved from Messrs Macarthur, Snelson, and others.
