BLACK STAR MINSTRELS.

This popular troupe gave one of their amusing entertainments at Winchester on Thursday evening, at the Public Hall, The programme Avas a comprehensive one, of the usual minstrel order, .and Avas thoroughly appreciated. The first part consisted of a number of ballads and choruses by the company, Avith an overture by Mr R. McLeod, Avho also played the accompaniments. After an interval of ten minutes the amusing sketch of “Bruised and Cured” Avas performed by Messrs J. and W. Collins. Several songs folloAved, by Messrs A. Clinch, G. Barrett, and J. Collins. Mr Barrett’s song, “ My Son,” received an enthusiastic encore, Avliich Avas responded to. Messrs S. Kroon and J. Chalmers contributed a double hornpipe, Avhich Avas Avell received. The second part concluded Avith an amusing concerted scene. The entertainment Avound up Avith the mirth-’ provoking farce of “ Killed by Kindness,” Avhich Avent very Aveli, especially considering the difficulties attending the production of a farce Avhere scenery and stage accompaniments are conspicuous by their absence. The company have to be congratulated upon the attendance, which Avas very good. Thanks are due to Mr »L Mclntosh for the loan of a capital piano, A feature of the entertainment Avas the number of excellent local hits and ucav jokes. A dance Avas held at the close of the entertainment, and attracted a fair attendance.
