CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS.

At the Addington yards oh Wednesday there was a small entry of stock/ •'■'

Fat -Sheep—Small, entry. Competition was very,, firm, and sales were effected without difficulty. Best crossbred wethers'sold-at from 1 19s-to 255,, medium do 16s 6d to 18s Gd, best free;:ers realised from 19s 6d to 21s Gd. medium do 16s 6dto 18s 6d, fat crossbred ewes sold at from 16s to 19s 3d, medium do 12s 6d to 15s, merino wethers realised from 10s to 13s 9d tc 15s each.

Store Sheep—Large framed'breeding ewes sold at from 12s 6d'to 15s. medium do 9s Gd to lis. Sheep suitable for feeding off turnips realised from lis to 13s Gd to 14s. Other sorts were difficult to quit. Fat Cattle—Fully 270 head of cattle Were yarded. Competition, considering the large number on offer, was fairly good and prices equal to about 18s per 1001 b were obtained. Bullocks sold at £6 10s to £8 10s, cows, £4 to £7 10s, heifers at £4 to £7. ■ ,--.. . ■

Dairy Cattle—Small entry, poor demand; best cows to.£6. Store Cattle—Small entry, which met with a dragging sale. Only about 50 head of all sorts, sizes, and conditions were offered. Most lines changed hands at what seemed to be very low values. Pigs—Large entry. Bacon pigs sold at 25s to 40s, heavies 45s to 60s, porkers 12s to 22s, 1 stores 10s to 15s.

Horses—At Tattersall's on Saturday last good useful draught and farm horses made from'£l3 to £l7 15s; hacks and light harness horses sold at from £ls to £2O for the best 1 ; medium do realising* from £8 to £l3. There was a good- enquiry existing for carriage pairs, at from £25 to £35 to £SO for exportation purposes.

DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS.

The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat—Market firm, but not over active! Prime tuscans and velvets, 4s 7d to 4s 8d; other good milling sorts, 4s 4d to 4s Gd. Fowls' wheat — Good whole, 3s 8d to 4s. Onions—£7 to £B.

Barley Malting, 3s- to 3s 3d ; milling, 2s 4d ito 2s Gd; feed, 2s to 2s 3d.' Pearl barley, £l3. Oats —We quote, nominally, best milling and seed, Is Gd to Is 7d; bright plump feed range from Is 4|d to Is s£d ; other sorts, Is 3d to Is 4d —all sacks extra, off trucks, and ex store;

Flour—Roller, £l2 ; stone, £ll os. Oatmeal—£Blos to £lolos. Bran—£3 10s. Sharps—£4 10s. Potatoes—-£2 to £2 ss; kidneys for seed, £2-5s to £2 10s. Pigs—l4olb to 1601 b, well fed and well cured,. large sizes.not saleable ; hams, 7d to 8d; bacon, 5d to 6d. Chaff — Good heavy clean sorts, £2 ss.

Turnips los to 18s. Carrots—30s to 355.

Straw—Oaten and wheaten, 30s to 355. Hay—Oaten, £3;. clover and ryegrass, £3 5s to £3 10s. Butter—Prjime salt, 7-|d —kegs returnable ; Taranaki factory. Is 2d; Taranaki dairy butter, 9d to lid.Eggs Fairly supplied. Honey—sd per lb. Cheese—-Factory, 56. to s^d; dairy, 4d to 4id. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, 3s 6d to ss ! 9d; cocksfoot, 4Jd to 6& per lb. Clovers, turnips, &c, on application,

Sheepskins Country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, brought 2s 3d to : 4s 3d; do do:merino, 2s Id to 4s; full-woolled« 4s 9d .to 7s 3d; do do merino, 4s 6d to 6s. 3d; dry pelts, 3d to 2s ; butchers' greeu crossbreds ■ — best, 5s lid to 4s 8d; good to medium, 4s 6d to 3s 9d. Hides—For 60ft hides,-2|d to 3d; 6oft and upwards, |d to; Id more; medium weights, 2d to 2|d ; light do, to inferior, Id to l^dperft.

Tallow—Prime rendered, 17s to 19s; inferior to mixed, 12s to los; rough fat—good 13s to 13s 6d; inferior, 9s to 12s.

DTINEDIN STOCK MABKETS,

At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business w r as transacted :-r

Fat Cattle —A full supply came forward, 2GB head being yarded. Best bullocks brought from £8 to £lO 15s; medium, £5 5s ,to £7 10s; light and inferior, £3 10s to £.4 15s. Fat v Sheep—24Bs were penned, 800 being prime merinos and the balance crossbreds. The demand, was not so spirited as laet weelc, and the prices realised showed all round a drop of fully Is per head. Best crossbred wethers sold from 19s to 16s Gd: medium', 15s to' 13s 9d; inferior! 12s 9d to lis 9d; best ewes, 15s 9d to 13s 9d; medium, 14s to 12s; in-, ferior, lis to 9s; merino wethers, 14s to 7s 3d.

Pigs—l2o were penned, pincipally porkers and baconers, which were in demarid, and showed a slight improvement in values. For suckers and stores thei'e was no alteration to report. Bacon pigs at from 28s to 475; porkers, 21s to 27s Gd ; stores, 13s to 18s; suckers, 2s Gd to 12s Gd.

Store Sheep The demand for sound young sheep and for wethers suitable for finishing off on turnips still continues good, and are readily

placed at full rates. There is also a demand for ewes in lamb.
