GERALDINE TOWN BOARD

Yhe, monthly meeting of this board was held on Tuesday evening. Present —Messrs A. White (chair-man), W. S. Maslin, A. Sherratt, N. Dunlop,- J. Mundell, J. Williams, and R. Hammond. TENDER. The chairman said with regard,to Mr Turner’s tender, which had been left in the hands of the Finance Cominittee, that the committee could not see their way to grant permission to fence in a certain road, and therefore could not entertain his tender. publicans’ licenses. The chairman intimated that licenses had been granted to the three public houses in the district, and also to Mr Pearppint as wholesale wine merchant, and all were paid up. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows :

From Rev, J. Preston, asking that a small stream of water be allowed to run constantly into the parsonage ground, that he might have wholesome water for his cattle.—lt was decided that the matter be left in the hands of the Works Committee to make the best arrangements in their power to provide water on the parsonage ground for fire prevention purposes, and thus meet Mr Preston’s wishes.

From James Kalaugher, asking to have the name of Amos Sherratt substituted for his own on the rate roll respecting sections 26, 27, and 32. Granted.

From James Gaby, asking to have his property, Pleasant Valley road, transferred to Alfred White, 40 acres. —Granted. •

From Michael Connolly, re application for putting Mrs Mary Farrell’s name on the rate roll. —Granted.

From F. W. Stubbs, County clerk, asking for ..annual returns of, receipts and expenditure.- —Already attended to. REPORTS. The ranger reported the following for allowing cattle to...wander since last meetingll. Pratt 1, W. Heney 1, J. Aitken 1, E. O’Brien 1, J. Sutherland 1, and Mrs Post 1. The overseer’s report on work done was read and adopted. FINANCIAL, The Property Tax Commissioner forwarded declaration form referring to payment of subsidy to be filled in,-- - The clerk and chairman were empowered to fill in declaration form and sign it. Accounts returned from the Auditor-General were correct.

It was resolved,on the motion of Mr Maslin seconded by Mr Mundell, that the Town Board ; ,make a demand of £25 from the Domain Board. The pay sheet, amounting to £3O 12s Id, and accounts amounting to £29 IGs 9d, -were passed for payment. THE BULL CASE. The chairman said that the bull case would come on' again on Tuesday next. WORKS. It was resolved that the fence near Mr Heney’s be repaired. It was agreed on the motion of Mr Sherratt seconded by Mr Mundell, that the Works Committee have all gates and fences removed off the roads o where: desirable, BATES. The question of amount of rate required was left in the hands of the Finance Committee to report at next meeting. The board then rose.

GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Geraldine Domain Board Avas held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), W. S. Maslin, A. Sherratt, N. Dunlop, J. Mundell, J. Williams, and B, Hammond, Airs Mary LaAvson tendered £2 per annum, payable half-yearly in advance, for unoccupied sections, 81acres, bctAveen Totara and Forest streets for a term of seven years;— Tender accepted. FINANCtAL. Accounts amounting to £l4 9s, with .a: deduction of. 6s Id for damage, incurred to a fence, were passed for payment. It Avas resolved that £25 due to the Town Board be paid. AVOIUCS. It Avas agreed to put two gangs of men on clearing stumps at the rates usually paid to men Avorking in the bush. The board then rose.
