CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The following is the Corn Exchange report (per N. P. Meyers; Secretary), foiv the week ending Eriday, June 26th:— During ,tho past week business in wheat has been of a restricted nature, there not being any appreciable change in value. . A fair enquiry has been exhibited for local consumption. Oats •land out prominently with a lair enquiry at quotations, feed sorts find buyer 1 !, there being but a slight difference ..as to values' between purchasers and sellers, Barley—Firm; prime'malting samples are in request, whilst second quality and feed are difficult to move. Peas and Beans— Blue Prussians (hand thrashed), aresaleable at .quotations. Beans find purchasers readily at prices below. Potatoes--Derwents, » better enquiry has been manifested during the week, but buyers prefer holding for higher rates. Quotations are as follow Wheat—Tuscan, 4s 8d to 4s 4d ; pearl, 4s 2d to 4s 3d; hunters, 4s Id to 4s 2d.
Oats—Prime milling, la 9d to Is lOd; short heavy feed, Is 8d to Is 9d; inferior, Is 5d to Is 6d. Barley—-Malting,. ,3a to 3s 3d; heavy feed, 2s. Peas and Beans—For the former (hand thrashed), for feed, 2s 5d to 2> 6d ; beans, 2s 9d. Potatoes —Derwente, 20s to 22s 6d country stations. Dairy Produce*-'Unaltered. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttelton.
CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS,
At the Addington yards on Wednesday there was a good entry of etoek. Store Sheep—ln stores with the of 1200 merino wethers,
which were not sold under the hammer, only a few email pens ot breeding ewes and one of lambs were sold.
Fat Sheep-rr-Ahout 4700 fat sheep were yarded.,; Prices for good sorts remained firm. Best merino,mutton realised 2d to 2£d per lb, crossbred wethers ifd to 2£d per lb, lightweight or inferior quality ewe mutton brought per lb net weight. 1 ’ Better quality ewes.ran from If dto 2d per lb. : Fat Cattle—,There were yarded 208 head of.fat cattle, including 28,which arrived. last week from Wanganui. They were sold at from £7 7s'fid to £8 15s, 17b fid to 18s per 1001 b. The rest of the entry sold at 12s to TBs,r (''tore Oattlerr-Wifch the exception of a line of calves, which were not sold, and.a small lot of 2-year-old steers which brought £3 a head, the stores consisted; chiefly of odd lots of cows, ate, for which there was a fair demand.
Pigs—About 300 pigs were yarded. Light convenient sized pigs, farm-fed, brought 2fd to 3d per lb, heavier sort* from 2£d, choppers from 2d per lb, according to condition and quality. Porkers brought 2f d to 3£d per lb,
DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS
The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday ;
Wheat—Market firm but not over active. Prime tuacan and velvet, 4s 7d to 4s 8d ; other good milling sorts, 4s 4d to 4s 6d ; fowls’ wheat, good whole; 3s 8d to 4s. 1 Prime Nelson hops, Is Id. Onions—£7 to £B.
Barley—Malting, 3s to 3s 3d ; milling, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; feed* 2s to 2s 3d. Pearl barley, £l3. Oats— Market easier. Best milling and seed, Is 6dto ls7d; bright plump feed range from Is 4£d to lss£d; other sorts, Is 3d to Is 4d--all sacks extra, off trucks, and ex store. Flour—Holler, £l2 ; stone, £ll ss. Oatmeal, £8 10s to £lO 10a. Bran, £8 10s, Sharps, £4 10s. Potatoes-ri-£2 to £2 ss; kidneys for seed, £2 6s to £2 10s. Pigs—l4olb to iGOlb, well fed-and. cured, 3£d; large sizes not saleable'; hams, 7d to 8d; bacon, 5d to 6d. Chaff —Good heavy clean sorts, £2 5s to £2 10s.
Turnips—lss to 18s. Carrots, 80s to 355.
Straw—!(Oaten and wheaten), 80s to 85s. Hay, (oaten), £8; clover and ryegrass hay, £8 5s to £3 10s. Butter ,t— Prime salt, —kegs returnable; Taranaki factory, Is; Taranaki dairy butter, 9d to lid. Eggs—Fairly supplied. Honey, 5d per lb. Cheese—Factory, 5d tos£d; dairy, 4d to 4£d. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, 3s 6d to 5s 9d; cocksfoot, 4f dto 6d per lb.
Wool—Prices are unchanged. A few small lots are still disposed of at auction. All the4ocal buyers are in attendance, and compete very spiritedly up to certain limits, which, however, are rather below the rates latelytruling Sheepskins— Country dry crossbreds, inferior* to medium, brought 2* to 3s lOd; do do merino, Is lOd to 3s dd ; full-woelled crossbreds, 4a lOd to '6s 9d ; do do merino, 4a 6d to 6s 3d; dry pelts, 4d to Is 8d; butchers’ green crossbreds, besti rs 6d to 4s 6d ; good to medium, 4a 5d to 3s sd. • Hides—Por 601 b -hides, 2f d to 8d ; 651 b and upwards, fd to Id pqr lb more; medium weights, 2d to 2fd; light do, Ifd to Ifd; inferior, Id to If d per lb. Tallow —For medium to good, 16s to 18s 6d and mixed, 12s to 15s; rough fat—best; 13s to 13s 6d; inferior to medium and good, 9s to 12s 9d per cwt.
DUNEDIN BTOOK MARKETS.
; At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted ;
Eat Cattle—Doubtless owing to the large supplies to hand lately, there was no improvement in the demand. Best bullocks brought £7 10s to £8 17s 6d extra prime to £10; medium to good, £5 7s 6d to £7 5s ; lightweights and inferior, £3 5s to £4 ss; best cows, £5 17s 6d to £7 ; ordinary, £4 to £5 10s • inferior, £1 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d;
Eat Sheep—2sßo penned. Competition was fairly active for prime quality, but ordinary had less attention, and for these prices were slightly easier this week. Best crossbred wethers brought 16s 6d to 18s 9d; one pen extra heavy 20s 3d; ordinary, 14s 9d to 16s ; medium quality, 18s 6d to I4s 6d; small, 12s to 13s; best crossbred ewes, 15s tol7s; ordinary, 13s 6d to 14s 9d; light, 9s9d to 12s 9d; merino wethers, 6s 8d to 10s 6d. Pigs—There were only 70 of these penned, very few of which were baconers, and these brought higher prices than those ruling lately, while for any other sorts there was no improvement. Suckers brought 3s to 7s; stores, 15a to 16s ; porkers, 20a to 22a; baconers, 36a 6d to 455. Store Bheep—The market for these is now much quieter, only a very few offering. There are buyers still in the market for good crossbreds, at prices comparing favorably with those ruling earlier. Merino wethers at 8s 6d to 10a 6d; crossbred ewes at 9s lOd to 13a 6d,
