Edward Piattley pleaded guilty to five charges of I'ircony at Makikibi and one of burgl-iry. It waa urged that the pr's<mer waa of weak intellect, and judgment w.s rei-ervdd uotil tke following day, when h» w a sentenced to six months'' till P'if on 00611'.

The evidence waa similar to that reoorded at the timu of the B,M. Court investigation. The jury retired at 5.45 p.nu and returned in half an hour to aee if the handkerchief fou d on the prisoner woald go round Green's (witnest'a) waist, and that of prisoner. It was found that the handkerchief fitted each man, and the jury again retired. About 7.30 the jury once more came into court with a verdict of "Not Guilty," and the priaoner was discharged. Yeiterday the case of John Device and Bobert Watson, charged with larceny on board the ■•■• Bayley, was taken. In this cue the prisoners woot on board the ship, broke open a portmanteau, and stole certain articles, including a bank draft therefrom. Ihey were found guilty, but sentence was not pronouncsd when our reporter left.
