FOOTBALL.

A match between the Temuka and Timarn first fifteens took place on the ground o£ the latter last Saturday. After some excellent play the match resulted in a draw, each party having scored 4 points. A match between the Temoka District Sigh School and the Timarn Main School which was played last Saturday in Timaru resulted in the Temuka boys being beaten by four tries to two. Mrs Graham presented the Timaru boys with a handsome banner.

WANDERERS (QERALDINB) T. WaIHI THIRD. This match came off at Geraldine on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the home team by 3 points to nil. The game was a well contested one throughout. In the first spell the

ball was confined mainly to the centre of the field, and the spell closed with no score on either side. The second spell saw some good passing by the homo team, which eventually brought the ball within a few inches of the line, and Olouston secured a try behind the posts. The visitors worked bard after this to stave off defeat, but without success, the ball being in midfield when time was called. The Waihi were by far the heavier team, but the good tackling of the home team effectually stopped their efforts to score. For the Waihi, Moore, Harding, Ensor, Wilks, Opie, and Manning, played well, while for the Wanderers, Taylor (3), Liversedge, McLean, and Smith did good; work. Mr G. Turnbull umpired for Geraldine, and Mr Moore for Waihi, while Mr W. Brinkman gaye every satis* faction as referee.
