THE SULPHUR CURE.

A correspondent m the Otago Daily Times writes: — SO THE EDITOR, Sib, —I have just received the following copy of directions re the sulphur cure from a correspondent in Melbourne who received the original direct from Mr Taylor himself. Perhaps you may think it of sufficient importance to publish, especially as it contains instructions regarding the sulphurous acid which were not given in the extract from the Argus that appeared in your columns -—I am, etc., May 13. H.W.

Sulphur Fumes and Sulphurous Acid In Oases of Chest Diseases. Dear Sir,—When y oar letter reached Tasmania I was in Victoria, and therefore could not answer you sooner re sulphurous acid as a cure for consumption. When I tell you that yours is one of about 120 applications of a similar character that I have received up to date you will at once understand the reason of tbe delay, and also tbe reason why I forward a printed reply to your inquiries.—Ever your friend. Alfred J. Tatlob, F.L.S. Tasmanian Public Library, Hobart, April 1891. DIRECTIONS HOW TO USE THE SULPHURIf powdered sulphur is used, place a small heap (about the size of n walnut) on a brick, plaeo the btiek upon the mantelpiece, and when the patient retires to rest set fire to the sulphur. Tbe room will then be filled with an atmosphere largely consisting of sulphurous acid formed by the burning sulphur uniting with the oxygen of the atmosphere. Should the patient be confined to the sick room sulpur may be burned two or three times during the day ; otherwise it should only be burned at night time. When rock sulphur is.used it should be melted at tbe flame of a match, like sealing wax, until tbe patch of sulphur covers on the brick tbe space of a five-shilling piece.
