A woman named Connolly, who 30 years ago was deßerted by her husband, a labourer in the Ourragh district, Ireland, hai just received some restitution for her wronged and wretched life. Her husband, it seems went to Australia and amassed £SOOO on the goldfields, but while returning to Melbourne he was robbed by bushrangers of »11 he possessed. He continued to be a miner, but met with little success. About two months ago he made his way to Brisbane, intending to return to Ireland, but his health gave way and he died, after leaving all he had about £27oo—to his wife, and tailing her, to his daughter. During his long exile he never wrote his wife a letter.
