OHRISTOHUEOH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wednesday there was a good entry of stock. Store Sheep—About 3000 store sheep were yarded. All classes were represented in small lots, only one line as large as 700 being offered. Two and 4-tooth wethers sold at from lls 3d to ,12s 9d, crossbred breeding ewes ’at 5s 6d, 7s, and 9s, crossbred call lambs brought 5s 7d, better quality to 8s sd, lines of merino wethers 3s 2d to 6s.

Fat Sheep—Nearly 4000 fat sheep were penned, a considerable portion of which were merinos. There was an improvement in the general run of the entry fat crossbreds, for which prices held firm.. Best crossbreds sold at from 14s 5d to IBa 6d, and some of extra size and quality brought 235. Lightweight ; ewes realised from 8s 3d to lls 6d, merino wethers ordinary sorts at 7s 6d to 9s 3d, and some extra good sorts reached 15s 9d. There were sold for Mr A. M, Clark, Biverslea Estate, crossbred wethers at 15s Bd to 17s 4d, and half bred wethers 9t Xld and 17s 9d.

Meyers, Secretary), for the week ending Friday, May Bth: Farmers still complain that the land has hot had enough rain to get on with their ploughing, but the weather has been most propitious for potato lifting, and the crops are turning out fully up to expectations, and are now being delivered in heavy quantities. The decline m the English wheat market has influenced our local demand, and prices have receded. Oats are quiet with but little shipping enquiry Maltsters are fairly well supplied with bafley for the present, good bold samples still command attention. Dairy produce is in fair demand sfc-our quotations. Prices reign as follow : Wheat—Prime milling tuscan, 4s to 4s Id ;: pearl, 3s lid to 4s ; hunters, white, 3s 10d to 3s lid; second quality, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; chickwheat, 8a to 3s 3d. Oats —Milling, Is 8d ; short feed, Is fid to Is 7d; long and inferior, Is 4d to Is 6d. Barley Prime malting, 8s to 3s Id ; second quality, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; inferior grades, 2s to 2s 4d; feed, Is 8d to Is lOd. Beans—2s 8d Blue peas—2s lOd to 3s; feed sorts, 2s 6d to 2s 9d.

Eyegrass—Machine dressed, 5s to 5s 3d ; farmers’ lines, 3s 3d to 4s. Cocksfoot —l6l b sd; lighter sorts, 3£d to 4^d. Potatoes—Derwents, 37s 6d, f.0.b., sacks in.

Dairy Produce—Butter, factory, 9d to ild ; farmers’, 6d to 7d, Cheese — Loaf, 4£d ; medium, 3fd to 4d. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttelton, sacks 6s 6d per dozen.

DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—Market a little easier, but all good parcels find buyers at old rates. Prime tuscaus and velvets, '4s 7d to 4s 8d; other good milling sorts, 4s 4d to 4s 6d; fowls’ wheat, good whole, 3s 8d to 4s ; broken and inferior, 3s 6d to 3s Bd. Barley—Malting, 3s to 3s 3d; milling, 2s 4d to 2s 6d; feed, 2s to 2a 2d ; pearl barley, £l3. ’ -Oats —Market unaltered. Bright milling, Is 6d to Is 6£d ; bright plump feed. Is 6id to Is 6^<f; off color, la 4d to la 5d (sacks extra, ex Truck), Flour— I imaru roller, £l2; Oamaru, town, and Southern stone, £ll ss. Oatmeal, £Blos, Bran, £3. Sharps, £4. Potatoes—Derwent, £2 ss]to £2 10s. Pigs—Good bacon sizes in demand at 3id to 3£d ; hams, 7d to 8d; bacon, sdito 6d. Chaff—£3 7s 6d to £2 12s 6d for good heavy well cut. Turnips—lss to 18s. Carrots—35s to 40s.

Straw—(Oaten and wheaten), 30s to 355. Hay (oaten), £3; clover and ryegrass hay, £3 to £8 ss. Butter-Prime salt, 7£d —in good demand. Eggs, scarce, Honey, 6d per lb Cheese—Factory,4d to4£d; Akaroa, to 4d. Grass Seeds—Eyegrass, farm lota, 3s 9d to 4s 6d ; machined, 5s 6d to 6s 9d; cocksfoot, 4|d to s£d.

Sheepskins—On Tuesday butchers’ green crossbreds, best, brought 4s 3d to 3s 6d ’ good to medium, 3s 5d to 2a lOd ; lambskins, 4s 6d to 2s 6d; country dry skins, inferior to medium crossbreds, Is lid to 3s lid; do do merino, Is 9d to 3a XOd; fullwdolled crossbreds, 5s 3d to 7s 3d; do do merino, 4s 3d to 6s 3d; dry pets, 3d to Is lOd,

Hids—There is no improvement to note in values. Inferior and slippy, Id to lid; light, l£d to l|d ; medium, 2d to 2id; up to 60ib, 2|d to 3d : 651 b and up to 801 b in suitable condition, id to Id per lb more. Tallow Best rendered mutton, 18s 6d to 20s ; medium to good, 15s 6d to 17s 6d ; inferior and mixed, 12s to 15s; rough fat, (best), 13j to 13s 6d ; inferior to medium and good, 9a to 12s 6d per cwt. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle—223 head were yarded. Competition was fairly active, especially for prime beef, which realised prices about equal to those ruling last week, but medium and inferior cow beef had less attention. Best bullocks brought £6 17s 6d to £9; medium to good, £4 15s to £6 12s 6d j light weights, £3 2s 6d to £4 2s 6d; best cows, £5 lOs to £6; two or three pens extra prime Herefords, to £7 ss; medium, £3 5s to £4 7s 6d; light weights, £1 17s 6d to £2 7s 6d t

Pigs—2l6 were penned, comprising all sorts. Porkers aod baconers had a fair ’demand, but suckers and stores were quite neglected. Suckers brought 5s 6d to 8s ; slips, 11s to 14s ; stores, 16s to 31s ; porkers, 22a to 27s 6d ; baconera, 32s to -44s—‘a few extra heavy trom 50a to 555.AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sidney, May 6. The total quantity of wheat and ; flour afloat for the United Kingdom is' 2,858,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,952,000 quarters. The visible supply of wheat in America is estimated at 33,600,000 bushels. Messrs Berry, Barclay and Co.. London, cable under date, sth inst., as follows to a Christchurch firm : “ Market is Is cheaper, being affected by fine weather. Cargoes are being offered from your city at 42s 3d” The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, received the following—cable message from London, dated 5 b May : Wheat —Market disorganised and continues drooping. New Zealand wheat, f.a.q., to arrive iron ship, is worth, c.i.f., 42s per 4801 b, April-May bill of lading. New Zealand wheat, longberried and average, are worth 44s and 42s 6d respectively per 4961 b
