S.C.A. ATHLETIC SPORTS.
The annual sports of the above society were held last Wednesday and Thursday. The weather was fine. The results were as follows: — Putting the 161 b Stone—H. G. Bristol, 30ft Sin, 1 ; A. J. Blackiston 2. Throwing the Cricket Ball—H. W. Poßteltb wails, 91 yards, 1. 100 Yards Race—First Heat—N. L. Garr, I; P. Wood, 2. Won easil}. A. H. Jdoesaso started. Time, 10 4-otb
8so» Second Heat—G. C Matheson, 1 £ "J-. O. T. Rutherford, 2 Bristol also ran. Won by about three yards, but no lime taken. 1 ' Poll Jump—H. W. Postlelhwaite, 9ft, 1; H. C. Billon, 7ft lOiu. 2. Half-mile Flat—P. Morrison, 1; J. Whee an, 2; A. H. Jones, 3. Seven started. Morrison had it all his own way, and ook ii easy in the second lap, winning by 25 yards. Tims, Susin B*ec. Final Heat 100 Yards—N. L. Qurr, 1 j G. 6. Matheson, 2 ; P. Wood, 3. These men were the only starters. Garr got the beet of the start, was never caught, sod won by over three yards. There was a good race ; for second place, wbieh resulted in Mathesoo beating Wood by half a yard Time, 10 2-6 h sec. One/Mtle Walk—J. Hay, 1; C. H. Tripp 2. Two others started. Won by ninety yards. Time, Bruin 12aeo. 120 Yards' Hardies—H. W* Postletbwaite, 1; 0. Rutherford, 2; Q. N. Fielden, 3. These were the only starters. Won easily by 10 yards. Time, 17 l-sth BBC.
Steeplechase, one mile and three-quarter (ladies! pnz9)—P. Morrison, 1 ;J. Wbeelsn 2. Sik others ran. Won with great ease by 159 yards. Time, 10mm 4|. The tropies’Were presented to the placed men by Mrs John Rutherford. 250 Yards Elat —P. Wood, 1} G. O. Matheson, 2.. Cuff; Qurr, and A. H. Jones alio ran.
