OHBIBTOHUEOH CORN EXCHANGE., f J he following is the Corn Exchange report (per N, P., Meyers, Secretary), fop-the week ending Friday, April] 24th:— Wheat—Transactions during the week haye been numerous, the prices, ruling locally having, a tendency to, induce grqwers to sell. Second quality has seen an improved demand for the! Australian Colonies. Oats are offering freely; prime milling at quotations, however, the only description asked for. Barley—Very few samples of prime malting offering, while second quality are= almost neglected. Beans nave seen fair business for shipment to London. Peas—The only sort attracting are blue Prussians, other varieties' are simply at feed values. l Potatoes—Large parcels are on offer; but business is restricted, owing to a difference in values between buyers and sellers. Dairy Produce —No material alteration in . values can be noted. Oup quotations are as follow; Wheat—Prime milling, tuscan, 4s ; pearl, 3s lOd to 3a lid; hunters, 3s 8d to 3s 9d. Oats—Milling, Is 8d; short feed, is fid; interior and discolored, Is 3d to Is 4d. Barley Prime malting, 3s 3d; feed, Is 9d to Is 10s. Beaus—2s fid. Peas, band threshed blue Prussians, 3s; feed, 2s 3d to 2* 4<i Folatees—Derwents, 26s lo 27s fid at country stations, within a radius of 12 miles. Kidneys unsaleable.
Dairy Produce—Unaltered. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttelton, sacks extra, potatoes excepted.
CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS.
At the Addington yards on Wednesday there was a pretty full entry and the attendance was fully up to the average. Store Sheep— I The quantity of store sheep was considerably less than recent sales, but there was a fair demand for good sorts of breeding awes and crossbred lambs. Of the 3500 yarded the majority was cleared at the following rates: Soundmouthed crossbred ewes 7s 6d to 10s 9d, aged do 5s 6d, 6s, to 6s 9d, a fine line of 2-tooth crossbred wethers 12s; the same price was secured for some three-quarter-bred wethers; crossbred wethers and maiden ewes 11s 7d, merino ewes from 4s 6d to to '4s lid, and two lines of crossbred lambs 7s lOdi.tb 9e. Fat Lambs —The demand for lambs is proportionate to the supply, which is gradually falling off. 650 were yardeded to-day and were by no means good sorts, with one or two exceptions ; lla 8d was the highest price obtained, but ; the general rUn of those sold brought.from 7s to 9s. Fat Sheep—There were about 4000 sheep entered in the fat pens, of which there was a fair proportion of prime wethers, which crested keen oompeTifciou ; 18s for a pen of very prime sheep, ■ and ■ from 14s to 16s was obtained for other good sorts of crossbred ;wethers and maiden ewes for trade and export. Lightweight cross-: bred ewes ranged from 9s to 12s, merino wethers in good condition 12s 3d. Messrs Miles and Coi sold for Mr J. G-illett, 38 crossbred wethers at 18s to 19s, 12 crossbred ewes at 17s 9d. Fat Cattle—lso head of very nice sorts of cattle were yarded, but the heavy market of last week bad its effect, as butchers, were not eager buyers. The result was that out of the entry a third were not sold, and those that were cleared realised from 16s to 16s per 1001 b, nothing better being obtained throughout the sale. The few cows that were sold did not realise more than 12a 6d to 13s. Store Cattle—There were very few stores except dry cows of all classes. A few yearlings sold up to 12s 6d, and some 2-year-elds mixed sold at 31s to £2 Is. A small line of forward bullocks brought £3 15s to £4. Ihe entry of dairy caws was not important. Piigs About 250, chiefly those nearly fit for bacon, were yarded. There was a considerable improvement in prices, 30s to 41s being obtained for good baconers.
DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS,
The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Oats —Owing to the small consignments coming, and to the fact that most of these are under instructions to be held, oats are somewhat firmer. At auction best milling brought up to> Is 6d on truck; seed, sparrowbills sold at ls 6£d; feed, Is Ad to Is 6?d. Wheat—Advices just received from , London advise a steady rise in prices I there, as well as in the American and 1 Continental markets. At the local 1 sale prices have advanced nearly 2d 1 per bushel on last week’s quotations! ; There are no large stocks in store at ; present. Quotations are, extra prime ; .milling, 4s fi£d to 4s 7d; prime i milling, 4s fid to 4s fid ; medium, 4s 2d to 4s 4d ; inferior to medium, 3a fid to 4s. Barley—This cereal is scarce, the demand being only for prime malting at from 3s 3d to 3s 4d, while it is difficult to place inferior sorts at from Is lOd to 2s fid, Onions—£s. Linseed, £ll to £l3. Prussian blue peas, 3s 4d ; and horse beans, 2s lOd f.o.b;, Blenheim. Flour—Timaru roller, £l2; in 50’s, £l2 15s; Oamaru, town, and Southern stone, £ll 15s; 50’s, £ll ]fis; Oatmeal, long ton bulk, £8 10s; 25’s, £8 10s; short ton bulk, £8 ; 7’s, £lO. Bran, £3. Sharps, £4. Potatoes—The market is again fully supplied and values easier—sos to 52s fid, Pigs—Well fed good sizes in demand at 3£d to 3|d ; hams, 7d to 8d; bacon, fid to fid. Chaff in demand—heavy, well cut, £2 7s fid to £2 10s, Turnips—lss to 18s, sacks extra. Carrots, 85s, sacks extra. Straw—(Oaten and wheaten), 30s to 355, Hay, (oaten), £3 ; clover and ryegrass hay, £3 to £3 fis. Butter —Prime salt in demand at 6£d, casks extra. Eggs—Scarce! Honey, fid per lb. Cheese—Akaroa, to 4d; factory, 4d to 4|d, Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, farmers’, 3s 9d to 4s fid; machined, fis fid to fis 9d; cocksfoot, 4*-d to fi^d. Sheepskins A good and brisk demand exists for both dry and green skins. On 'Juesday country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, brought 2s 2d to 4s; do do merino, Is lOd to 3s 9d; full-woolled crossbreds, 4s to 7s; do do merino 4s to fis lid; dry pels, 4d to is lOd ; butchers’ greem crossbreds, best, 3a 4d to 8s 9d; do do do, good to medium, 3s 2d to Ss 4d; do do do inferior, 2s 2d. 2s Id, to la lid; green lambskins, best, 3s 4d to 3s 7d; do do, medium to inferior, 2a 3d to 3s Hides—The market is steady, with tx good demand for well played heavy I sorts which are always scarce. week’s quotations may be repeated : Inferior and slippy, Id to lid ; light, lid to l|d; ‘medium, 2d to 2id; heavy weights, 601 b and over, 2fd to Bd. Tallow—All lots are easily placed. Quotations nre, priraerendered mutton, IBs 6d to 20s ; medium to'good, 15s to 17s '6l; inferior and mixbd; T2s to 15a ; rough fat, best caul 13s to 13s 6d; inferior to medium and good, 9s to 12b 6-J.
DUNEDIN STOCK MARKERS,
At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business 1 was acted;Fat Cattle—3o4 came forward, comprising-all qualities. There is no improvement to record in prices. Best bullocks brought £6 10s to £8 10s — one extra pen to £9; medium to good, £4,108 to £6 7s 6d ; light; £3 10* to £4 7a 6d ; best cows, £5 5p to £6 5s ; medium, £3 to £4 2s 6d ; light and "inferior, j£l 17s 6d to £2 1,43Fat Sheep—l9B4 were yairded, being nearly all crossbreds. Sales opened with a want of spirit, but prices all round were about equal to last week. Best crossbred wethers, 13s 9d to ,15s 6d (one extra heavy pen 16s 8d) ; medium do do, 12s 6d to 13s 6d,; best do eweis, 12s 6d to 14s 3d; medium do do, 10s 3d to 12s 6d; merino wethers up to 7s 3d. Lambs —291 were yarded—medium to prime quality, a moderate demand only. Rest brought 9a 6d! te lla 6d; medium, 6s 6d to 9a. ' Pigs-r-115 were penned, comprising all sorts. Suckers sold at from 6s to 7s 6d; slips, at from 10s; to 15s 6d ; stores, 16s to 18s; porkers, 20s to 22s 3d ; baconers, 27s to 40s.

Oats, Algerian, Is lid; Tartarian, 2s 6£d ; stout, 2s Bd. Barley, superior English sorts, 2s 4d to 2s s£d; best malting, 3s Bd. Bran, lOid. Peas, 3s 3d. Adelaide, April 22. Wheat, 4s 6d to 4s 9d. Flour, stone made, £8 10s to £9; roller, £lO to £lO 6a. Bran, Is Id. Pollard, Is, Barley, malting, 3s 3d to 8s 6d. ENGLISH MARKETS. Lokdon, April 21. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 45s to 46a. New Zealand flour 30s to 31s, with brisk demand. The Continental cornfields show no improvement. April 22. A cargo of New Zealand wheat, March-April shipment, has been sold at 445. Apples, ex steamer Pakeha, from New Zealand, sold at from 8s to 20s per case. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,824,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,864,000 quarters. At the wool sales prices remain unchanged. Three cargoes of New Zealand wheat in iron bottoms, prompt shipment, have been sold at 44s 6d, 43s 6d, and 43s 4d respectively. Several parcels have been sold at" 445. A cargo to arrive per barque Andes from Melbourne, has been sold for export at 455.
