THE OTAGO GENERAL RAILWAY
At a meeting which was held in the Town HalJ, Dutiedin, last Wednesday, at which most of the city and suburban members r were present in addition to a number lhf men, the following resolutions were passed:— “That it is absolutely necessary in order to develop, the interests of Central Otago and Dunedin, thAt the Otago Central' Railway should he extended at the earliest possible date (2) That as there are at present in the district a large number of unemployed this work presents th readiest and. most profitable means for their employment. (3) That as the extension of the railway will promote the settletiieht of a large area of Crown land, several blocks of which would shortly be offered for sale, the work will be immediately reproductive «■ well as calculated to afford immediate employment to the unem ployed, (4) That in view of the present labor difficulty the Government should anticipate the Vote of Parliameatpand at“ Once proceed with the earthwork of a portion of the Otago Central Bail way,” The • resolutions are to he forwarded to the Government.
