London, April 6. Mr WVH, Smith has refused to accept Davitt as a representative of Mr McCarthy’s party on the Government Labor Commission. Paris, April 5. The miners’ Congress have passed a; resolution requesting the various Governments to legislate 5u the direction of having eight hours > recognised as a day’s, work and threatening that unless this is done a general strike will take place. April 6. The Miners’ Congress, before author, ising a universal strike, has agreed ftl. the request of the European Governments to arrange an internaiional convention, which will decree 8 boars the limit of labour. The congress has resolved to support the Belgians if they strike, Madrid, Ajiril 6.

The Government are taking steps to regulate the hours of labor for womm and children, and will also legislate in the direction of restricting Sunday work, Vienna, April 6.

General labour agitation is taking p’ace in Austria, and strikes of the rations trades are being organised. Several conflicts' have occurred between the labor igitalors and the police. New York, April 6. Six hundred turners hare struck work at Nevada. Sydney, April 7. The Pastoralists Union has received another proposal from the Amalgamated Shearers, asking that a conference be held to discuss the present differences, Brisbane, April 7. The correspondence impounded at the time ot the arrest of officers of the Shearers Union is of a revolutionary character, and r. commended resort to arms. It is also mentioned that the union would indicate to shearers in New South Wales when the time was ripe to adopt such a course.
