BRITISH DISASTER AT MANIPUR.
Calcutta, April 3. The British forces have began reprisals in Manipur by destroying several of the native villages. As far as on be ascertained at present the British loss at Manipur was sixteen, while twenty were wounded, 106 of the men, however, have not been accounted for. The number of Ghookacs who escaped from Manipnr waß 250. News of the safety of Lieutenant's Grant's force of Sepoys, has not been counoed, acd it is now feared that the detachment has been murdered, A report received from a native states that Mr Quinton, Chief Commissioner of Assam, and bis party, were killed oc the day of the outbreak at Manipur, The report, however, requires confirmation.
