Auckland, Aprils. The defaulting Wbangarei postmaster, O’Halloran, was arrested this morning near JSgurugru, between Whangarei and Bay of Islands. New Plymouth, April 4.

Yesterday evening Charles Swan, second engineer of the Wanaka, and Mr Wood, first mate, John Orothy, and James Johnson, drove in from the scene of the wreck in a two-horse buggy. The animals bolted and threw them all out in Devon Street. Swan's left leg was smashed, Wood's left knee injured, and the other two men were slightly hurt and bruised, while the trap was smashed. It was a wonder they were not all killed. The two first named were taken to the hospital, where they are getting on favorably. Wellington, April 4

A Chinese greengrocer named Ah Lum, who occupied the premises in Courtney Place which took fire on Tuesday morning under somnwhat suspicious circumstances, wss discovered jesterday afternoon in his bed in a dying state. He was removed to the hospital, where he died this morning. The hospital authorities are unable to state the cause of death, but it is supposed to be the result of exceesive opium smoking. Dtoedin, April 3.

Messrs Fish (Bank of New South Wales), Goldsworthy (Bank of New Zealand), Horswell (who owns one of the leading businesses in Naseby), and John Macgregor went out shooting yesterday on the property of Mr Geddes, midway between Naseby and Kyeburn. Late in the afternoon, when all were together in a whare, seeing some ducks come along they prepared to fire. Three fired at once and Horswell, thinking that all had fired, rose, receiving the contents of the remaining gun in the back of the head, and half of his head was blown [ away. He lived for two hours, but i never regained consciousness. '
