late at night he fell down under an apple tree in a field just outside hia r house. Here he passed the night. Tbe next day his friends Bought for him, and when they found him his limbs were quite stiff, his cldthes covered with hoar frost, and no sign of life was apparent; He was carried with haste into the house, and means taken for restoring animation, but without avail, and he was given up for dead, I hey then proceeded to carry out the last offices as for a corpse. Information was Bent; to the localauthorities of his death, a certificate of his death procured, permission for his burial aßked for, and a priest sent for. In the meantime the body was wrapped in cere clothes, and flowers put on it and a crucifix between the hands. The priest arrived, and the members ot the family joined in reciting .with, him the prayers for the dead. Suddenly, however, the supposed dead man sat up, and demanded to know what it all meant. His body had been, no doubt, warmed by the means taken to restore animation and .by the clothei wrapped round the supposed corpse, but it had taken some time for the desired effect to circulate through the whole system.
