TEMUKA V. WAIHI. Phs Brat match of the season between the Temuka and Waihi Football Clubs took place at Winchester on Saturday last, the Temuka team being captained by J. Anc'eraon and the Waihi by Y. Sli'illard. Play commenced at 4 o'clock, and the game was played in two spells of 40 minutes. The result was a decisive win for Waihi by 12 points to 3, Temuka being overmatched, the Waihi men averaging about two stone more in weight than their opponents. For Waihi South, Lewis, A. Stewart, and A. Hart obtained tries, all of which ware converted into «oals by I>. Stewart. His place-kicking was about the best that has been witnessed on the giound. For Temuka Goldstone secured the only try, due to the excellent play of Lavery, which waß easi y turned into a goal by Mende!son. For the winners, Stewarts (2), Harts (2), and South played well. For Terouk* Mendelson played a sterling game, and he was by far the best player on the ground. He won Ihe admiration of both players and spectators. Gillespie and Lavery also played »u)l,
TEMUKA. V. EXCELSIOB. The following is the team selected to represeot the Temuka Football Club in their match with the Oimaru Excelsior Club:—Full back, W. Russell; ihreequarter backs, J. Kolaugher, F. Storey and J. Austin ; half backs, T. Gaffiney and C. Goldslooe ; forwards, J. Anderson (captain), J. Gillespie, E. Carr, R. Robertson, J. Meecharo, J. Henry, R. McKinley, J. Hoare and H. Greaves ; emergencies, H. Rodgera and J. Duncan. The match will take place at Oim«ru on Good Friday. I A ball will be in the Victoria Perk, Tarn uka, every afternoon at 4 o'clock, and 1 those picked are requested to turn up to practices. GERALDINE FOOTBALL CLUB. This dub, which was newly formed a week or two ago, has received a very &evere check, Mr A. F. Thomson, its captain, who has been the life and soul of the club since its formation, having been removed to Cbristchurch. Mr Thomson filled the positions of captains, member of the selection committee, and delegate to the Rugby Union, and a meeting is te be held to-night to fill the vacancies caused by hia removal.
