THE CONVENT SCHOOLS.

Tbe annual treat in connection with St. Joseph’s Schools at Temnka end Kerry town took place last Thursday, and was a great success. The weather was extremely fine, albeit a little too warm, up to 4.30 p.m., whoa a tremendous gale from the eoath-weiit came up, end those who had to go a long distance found it very unpleasant. The attendance of children was very large, and there was also present a good number of theiir friends and parents. Mass wass celebrated by the Rev. Father Fauvel jn the church at

9 u.m., the attendance being large, and between 30 and 40 of the elnliren receiving their first communion, a tier mass the children were marshalled by the Sisters of Bt. Joseph into the school, where extensive preparations had been made for them. The schoolroom was splendidly decorated, and here a sumptuous breakfast was Lid out oto. five long tables in a most tistefu! anil appetising mannuer. Tbe children, to lbs number of close on 300, were soon seated around tbe tables, while a Urge number of young ladies assisted tbe Sisters in the work of altendiiug to them. Breakfast over, the

children were taken to the paddooN adjoining J the school, where all sorts of juvenile games , were indulged in. The Rev. Father Aubry took Charge of the boys, and tbe sisters looked after the girls, both being kept apart. All

sorts of girlish gamts were indulged in, and a large number of prizes given, each child repairing some present. On tbe boys' side the Rev, Father Aubry, assisted by the Rev. Father Fauyel and tome of the young men of the parish, got up a programme of sports, (ho result being as follows :

Horgan 2, Boys Running High Jump—Under 12 years of age; M. Demuth 1, H, Brosnahan 2 ; over 12 year* : J. Moore 1, D Connell 2. Boyo Running Jump—Over 12 years: J. Spillane 1, J. Barry 2. Boys Three-Legged Races Under 12 years; Ed. Lavery and J. Dunn 1, J, Kelly and R Burke 2 ; over 12 years : D. Heffernan and B. Horgan 1, D. Connell and 0. Xoby 2. Sack Race—J. Stack 1, B. Horgan 2. Boys Walking Handicap-Under 12 years: R. riurke 1, J. Barry 2.

Boys Hop, Step and Jump—Over 12 years: 0. Spillane 1, B. Horgan 2 , under 12 years : M, Demuth 1, D. Murphy 2. Vaulting with Pole—M. Demuth i, T. Spillane 2. Boys Wrestling—Over 12years: T.Spillane 1, D. Heffernan 2; under 12 years: D. Murphy 1, D. Hoare 2, All tne events were very keenly and for several of the events over 20 com* petitors entered. The wrtelling was very good and many of the youngsters exhibited a good deal of science. In the course of the afternoon refreshments were severed out, and. large quantities of cakes were disposed ofg At 4 p.m. the bells tolled, and after giviur three cheers for the Sisters, the Rev. Eathed Aubory, and the ladies who had contributeo to the treat the ohildren were taken back te the church where tfthe benediction of ths Blessed Siorement brought the proceeding to a close,
