AUCTIONEERS* REPORTS. GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for' the week ended March 4, 1891, as follows :- There is a large and increasing demand' on> all; classes of stock, especially sheep. It is a pleasure for •agents to do business in this class of stock at present, as all lines of sheep yarded sell readily at prices satisfactory to vendors. GEKAI.DINE TABDS. At the' Geraldine Yards on Wednesday, 4th inst., the yardings consisted of 8700 sheep, 55 cattle, and 27 pigs. The following prices were realised during the sale : Sheep—Three-quarter-bred wethers and maiden ewes, forward, 12s 6d to 13s; half and three-quarter-bred wethers and maiden ewes, 2-tootb, 10a, 3d, 10s ,6d, to lis lOd; three-quarter-bred wethers and ewes, 2 and 4-tooth, 12s, 12s 3d,.t0 12s 6d ; three* qdartertbted lambs, 10a, 10s 3d 1 ,- to 10s 6d ; hf*lf-bred ewes, sound mouth, 9s, 9s 3d, to 9s 6d; cull crossbreds, 3s lid tb 4s 6d; merino ewes, 5s to 5s "_id; cull merinos, 2s to 2s 6d; crossbred ewes, fat, 7a 6d, 7s 9d, to 8s 6d ; merino wethers, fat, 10s lid. TEMUKA.TABDS. At the Temuka yards on Tuesday, 40th ihst., the yardings consisted of 6900 sheep, 85 cattle, and 120 pigs. Prices realised were:— Sheep—Three-quarter-bred wethers and maiden ewes, 2 and 4-tooth, 12s lid, 13s 6d, to 14s 3d; three-quarter-bred wethers and ewes, 2tooth, lis to lis 6d; half-bred wethers and maiden ewes, 2-tooth, 10s to 10s, 6d; three-quarter-bred lambs, 8s 7d, 9s, to 10s 2d'; half-bred lambs, 8s to 8s 6d; crossbred ewes, sound mouthed, 9s to 9a 6d; cull crossbred ewes, 2s 6d, 4s Bd, to sa; merino ewes, sound sheep, 5s sd; merino ewes, all ages, 2s 9d to 3s; merino wethers, all ages, 2s 7d, 2s Bd, to 2s 9d.

CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

The .following is the Corn Exchange report (per N. P. Meyers, Secretary), for the week ending; JFriday,, March 13th:-v'

■The weather has been exceedingly favorable fori the ingathering of the balance of the grain crops, which may now be considered secured, although in some instances not without damage. A. much firmer tone in wheat, owiac: to the steady advance in "the European markets, and -Bhorfoge m Jterc Soutk Wales, is noticeable, and local millers are anxious to purchase at an increase of our last quotations. Sydney advices indicate thdt South Wales will require"heavy supplies ; frbm outside isourcesy and this, "together! with; bhe hardening tendency in'thei>HomS: markets, must be encouraging to growers^who ..have .not 501 d,., .Opera-, ttdns".during the week have been chiefly confined to millers, especially ip the Rangibra market, 'where keen competition was exhibited. There is ample tonnage foe growers who wish to ship, but feeling generally is to hold f?r a month ori two. iThe oat crop is both poor in quality and yield. Heavy milling is wanted, but prices preclude manufacturers of oatmeal competing with our southern friends. Barley, if prime malting, meets with a fair" inquiry, but second quality and off samples are quite neglected. Grass is offering freely, and prices'are Weaker. The potato crop is one of ihe largest ever known as regards acreage, and the yield of kidneys above anticipations. Several lines' have been' placed for shipment a fortnight hence at 27s 6d to 28s 6d per ton at country stations. In Derwents forward sales have been made for delivery off the forks at 25s to 27s 6d. Quotations as follows: — ; Wheat —Tuscan, 3s 8d ; pearl, 3s 6d ; hunters, 3s 5d ; whole chick, 3s. Oats—Milling, Is 8d ; short feed, Is 6d to ls.7d; inferior, Is 4d to Is sd.

Barley—Prime malting, up to 3s 3d ; second qualitv, 2s 6d to 2s lOd ; feed, lsßdtolsl6d. Peas, 2a 6d to 3s. Ryegrass, 5s to 5s 6d; farmers' lines,.3s 6d to 4a 6d ; cocksfoot, town i machined, sd; growers' lines, 4d to i4i'd: Dairy Produce—Butter, factory, 7d to 8d; farmers' potting, 6d. to 6£d; cheese (loaf), medium sizes, 3fd to 4d, '.'"he above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttel ton, sacks extra.

CHBISTCHUROH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wednesday there was another heavy entry in all the fat stock sections and in store sheep, and the attendance was large. Store Sheep—There were about 6000 store sheep yarded, all of which sold at good rates. One line of 2000 sound-mouthed merino ewes realised 58 sd. Other merino ewes sold at ss. Some forward conditioned merino wethers brought up to 6s 6d. 4-tooth crossbred wethers in forward condition

sold up to 13a 6d. Crossbred ewes, sound-mouthed, sold at from 9s to 10s, and a number of crossbred lambs brought from 7s 6d to 9s. Lambs—About 1800 lambs were yarded in the fat pens, and in nearly every case sales were effected, the majority being, cleared for freezing at prices equal to last week's quotations. 'Being a heavy sale there was a tendency to dragging at last, but [throughout Irom 10s to 12s 6i was secured for good quality of freezers. i Eat Sheep—Over 4000 fat sheep were yarded'. The sale was very brisk. Prime freezers were in good demand at: 14s to 16s, lightweight crossbreds Ills to iss; ewes 9s to 18s, heavy ditto up to 16a Id, merino wethers lis to 15s.

. Fat Cattle—26B head of nice quality ibeef were offered, and an improvement ! in price was noticeable throughout the Bale. < Best steers sold at from £6 5s to £7 7s 6d; and heifers at £4 2s 6d ;to £6 2s 6d. There was a decided absence of inferior quality beef or old cows/ and prices ranged throughout from 15a to 19s per 1001 b. Store Cattle—There was rather a small entry of store cattle of very 'mixed quality "..and sorts, of which there were no leading lines. A few good sorts of heifers brought up to £3 13s,,and some 2-year-olds sold at ; £l'l2s. A few very nice dairy cows were in- good demand, ; and brought from £5 ss,to £7 17s6d,in proportion jto quality. Pigs—The entry was a small one, comprising porkers, stores, and a few jbaconers. There was no change in 'prices.

DTJNEDIN PRODUCE MAEKETB. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— • Wheat—Market firm, and the latest jHome cables predict a rise. Tuscans ] and velvets, 33 lid to 4s ; other good sorts, 3s 8d to 3s lOd. Eowls' wheat in good demand ; good whole, 8s 6d to 3s &&; medium and broken, 3.s 3d'to 3s 6d.

Barley—Best malting, 3s to 3s 3d ; milling and feed, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; pearl barley, £l2 to £l3. Oats —No alteration to report. Prime milling up to Is s£d; bright plump feed,'ls ; 4£d to Is s|d; second quality. Is 3d to Is 4d.' Flour TLmaru roller, 1 £lO ; 50's, £lO 15s ; Oamaru, town and southern stone, £9 5s ; 50'o £9 15s. Oatmeal, £9 lor 25's; £B, 10s in bulk. Bran, £2 10s. Sharps, £3 10s, Potatoes—Kidneys' out of date; derwerits, £3 to £3 ss.

Onions—£6 to £7. Linseed—£ll to £l3. Pigs—2fd to. 3d for good sizes; hams, 7d to 8d; bacon, 5d to 6d.

Cheese —Factory, 4d to 4|d; Akaroa, 3id to 4d. Grass Seeds*—Ryegrass,' 3s 9d to 4s 6d for farmers; 5a 6d' for machine dressed. Cocksfoot, 4fd to per lb.

Sheepskins—On Tuesday country 'dry crossbreds, low to medium, brought la lid to 3s lid ; do do merino, Is 8d to 3s 9d ; full-woolled crossbreds, 4s lid to 7s sd; do do merino, 4s 2d to 5a 9d ; dry pelts, 3d to ls6d ; green crossbred pelts, best "brought 2s-6d to 2a 3d; good to medium, 2s 2d to Is 8d ; inferior, Is 7d to Is 4d ; green larabskins, best, 2s 8d to 2s 4d ; medium to inferior, 2s 2d to la 6d each.

Hides-—The market is over-supplied with light and inferior sorts. Quotations for best heavy weights, 2f d to 3d —a shade more for extra good lots; medium, 2d to 2£d ; light, l|d to If d; inferior and slippy, id to lid per lb. Tallow—-No improvement to note in values, demand'- satisfactory. Prime rendered mutton, 19s to 20s; medium 'to good, 16s to. 18s; inferior and mixed, 12s to 15s 6d. Rough fat continues in fair demand at, for best fresh caul,: 13a to 13s 6d ; inferior to: •medium and good,! 9s to 12s 6d per ewt.

DUNEPiF STOCK' MARKETS. At the Burriside Yards on Wednesiday the following business was transacted:— Fat Cattle about one half good to prime, the rest i oulyi-medium, a considerable number aged cows. This number: ;^was r a, long way in excess of requirements, and the result a dull sale, with prices very muph lower. Best bullocks brought £6 10s to £7 17s 6,d ; medium to good, £5 to £6 2s 6d; light weights, £3 5s to £4 12s 6d ; best cows, £5 15s to £6 15s; medium, £4 to £5; light, £2 5s to £3 10s.

Fat Sheep—2l26 penned, all crossbreds, with the exception o£ a few pens medium merinos. The demand was good, and very satisfactory prices were obtained all through. Best crossbred wethers brought 13s 6d to 14s, one small pen to 15s ; medium, 10s 6d to 12s 9d; beat crossbred ewes, 12a 9d to 13s 9d ; one pen extra heavy, 14a 6dj medium, 8s 3d to lis 6d ; merino wethers, 4s 6d to 10s 6d. I*at iambs —943 penned, The demand was very good, and the whole were,disposed of at prices about equal to. last week's. Best brought 9s 3d to lis 9d, others from os 6<? to 8s 9d. Pigs—Only 97 penned. Suckers as of late, did not meet with much attention; other sorts had a better demand, especially good stores and prime porkers. Suckers brought; 6s 6d
