Auckland, March 9. > A, man named Fredk. Reynolds had his right. leg crushed between two railway carriages at Helensville this morning. He was„brought down to the Hospital, but died shortly after admission. The man : was suffering from the shock' when brought to town, and his death,',was also accelerated by heart disease. A young;man named Owen, 19, was shot at Motutapu. He was one of a yachting party who visited the island a few days ago;. He was shot by one ■ of his cbmrades'and received the charge in his thigh, so that it is feared he will lose his leg. He was brought to town on board H.M.S. Lizard. Wellington, March 9. A young man named John Reginald, arrested for false pretences, adopted the unusual course of writing out his confession before his appearance at the Court The docuJient, which confessed to several small frauds, was duly handed to the Resident Magistrate, who remanded the prisoner for sentence.

March 9. A- narrow escape f ebm poisoning has occurred here. Mrs Brimble, wife of Jas. Brimble, a publican, suffering from a severe cold, asked her husband to get a bottle of Irish Moss from a drawer to take a dose. In the same drawer was another bottle the same size,containing belladonna, both viscous liquids and both sweet. In mistake Jas. Brimble, also having a cold, took a dose of belladona and gave another to hisfwife. The symptoms of poisoning soon followed, Dr Millington was called in and administered remedies, but the case was so serious that he sent to Kumara for Dr Miles, who promptly attended for consultation. Jas. Brimble i 9 now out of all danger and his wife is gradually recovering and is much improved. Intebcabgilli, March 10.

Ihe body of John Wann, the rabbiter who has been missing from Gillander's run, Waikaia, since the 28th of last month, was found face up in a swamp at the foot of a steep cliff, the clenched hands only appearing above tbe surface of the water. Deceased was subject to fits, and it is supposed he was taken in one, and| rolled down and was drowned. Wann, was a Scotchman of eccentric charater,/ and was greatly Bcarred by a powder explosion some years rback. (
