The joint stock bankers in London and the Provinces are willing to publish a month'y summary of assets and liabilities, and admit that large reserves are desirable, A committee of bankers will confer with the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the matter. The Statist asserts that the Bank of England will issue £1 notes and apppint country banks issuing agents, on condition that they lodge consuls wjth the bask, and aso that gold displaced be remitted to the bank. The money market in this city is excited, and it is feared that the funds of the Provincial Bank will be absorbed. March 6. A financial panic has occured in this city, and a great run was made on the Provincial Bank. The Government and private merchants are coming to the assistance of the Bank. The banks in the city have suspended payment for two days to permit of their arranging for a loan in order to secure the Provincial Bank. Dr Vincent F. Lopez, Minister of Finance has resigned.
