< The douse' of Representatives has passed a Bill giving a subsidy to mail steamers. This Bill was indroduced in place of the Shipping Subsidy Bill. The Canadian Government has definitely agreed to give Lord Bartington's steamers a subsidy of £150,000 per annum for a fast line across the Atlantic, The Australian colonies will b« expected to subsidise the line from Vanoouver to Sydney.
