AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. XIMARTT. Mr Moss Jonas reports as follows: — Business has greatly improved this last four weeks, especially in sheep and cattle. 1 Pleasant Point—At these yards there was a good entry, and nearly every lot submitted was sold, with the exception of a few old cows and young cattle, the latter selling at very low prices, and hard to dispose of at all. He sold 168 maiden ewes and wethers at 11s, 237 fat ewes at 9s 6d, 370 do and wethers at lls 3d, 52 lambs at 9s, 31 do at 7s 6d, 47 broken mouth half-bred ewes at 2s, 110 do at 4s 6d, 100 do at 4s 2d ; 36 pigs from 6s 6d to 15a, 12 head of fat steers and heifers from £3 10s to £5 12s 6d, and other small lines at equally fair prices, Washdyke Yards—The yards are again receiving good entries. He sold 202 hoggets at 9s 6d, 117 fat wethers at lls 4d, 29 fat ewes at 7s 9d, 75 do do at IQs 3d, Sheepskins. Hides, etc. —He has soli both by auction and privately during the last four weeks, 5684 which, taking into consideration the fall in wool, have realised most satisfactory prices. Butchers’ pelts at ls : , Is 6d, Is 9d, others 3d, 6d, up to lOd, full-wool skins at 3s, 4s 6d, up to 5s 3d, lambs Is 6d, Is lOd, 2s, 2s 3d, to 2s 6d, freezers’ pelts at 2s, 2s 2d, up to 2a 6d, lambs at 2s 4d, 2a 6d, 2s 9J, to 3s, 9 bales merino wool at 7d, 25 bags locks and pieces at 2d to sid, 10 do and 1 fudge 6|d to 7d. 110 hides from to 3d according to weight and condition, 3 tons of fat at 8s 6d, 10s 6d, lls 6d, 12s 6d per cwt. according to condition. Private sold 700 2-tooths at 9s 9d, 600 do at 10a Id, 1000 do at lls, 290 do at 12s 6d, 520 do at 12s. 1500 fat lambs at 9s 6d to 10s 3d, 28 fat steers and heifers from £4 to £5 10s, and several small lines equal to the above prices. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, February 12. Wool is firm and prices for merino sorts are hardening. February 13. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 107 ; per cent, ditto, 97L New Zealand long-berried wheat is firm at 38s 3d. Canterbury mutton, 4 13-I6d per lb; Wellington, 3|d; Canterbury lamb, fid. Auckland hemp, fair average, £25 15s per ton* Wellington, good average, £25 10s; Australian wheat is active at 395; Victorian is steady at 38s 6d. February 14.
