Horses —At the Timaru Horse Bazaar our entries have been small. The draughts offering are not the class wanted for harvest work, and only a few weedy backs put in an appearance. Young sound draughts are enquired for and would sell up to £2O. We quote medium to good at £ls to £22 10s, inferior and aged at £8 to £l2. Hacks —medium up to £l2, light, and weedy £3 to £B. Sheep—Owing to the abundance of grass and stubble feed, and the prospect of an extraordinarily good turnip crop, young store sheep maintain an exceptionally high value, and failing a rise in the price of freezers there is but a small (if any) margin of profit left for the grazier. Ihe demand for sheep and lambs fit for freezing is unlimited, and for these we are obtaining 2d per lb. for crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, do for lambs, and 1-J-d do aged crossbred ewes. At Pleasant Point sale, on the 2nd inst., there was a large entry of fat and store sheep, and all changed hands at high values. We sold 100 fat wethers at lls 6d, 101 ewes and wethers at 10s, 62 fat ewes at 10a sd. At Washdyke, 53 fat ewes at 9s 3d, 12 lambs at 8s 6d, 28 ewes at 9s 6d, 106 2-tooth wethers at lls, 163 crossbred ewes and hmba at 6‘a 6d each. Privately we disposed of 3175 young store sheep, and for freezing 1531 lambs, and 2127 wethers and ewes, all at quotations above.
Cattle—There is but little business doing in ; this line. Stores are difficult to sell at any price, and beyond local requirements there is nothing doing in fat cattle. At auction we sold yearlings at 15s to 16s 6d, 2-year olds at 35s to 455, 3-year-old steers at up to £4 2s 6d, and privately 28 head bullocks and heifers at equal to 17s per 1001 b.
