New Plymouth, Peb. 7. Archdeacon Govett was thrown from his carriage yesterday afternoon, and is seriously hurt. His right arm is broken in two places, Wellington, Peb. 7. Mr K. Staples, bootmaker, of Kilbornie, was thrown out of a trap last

night and died of concussion of the brain this morning. His wife also was injured j other occupants of the vehicle escaped. Hokitika, Feb. 7. A little boy of 7 years of age, named Honnawill, was drowned in the river on Saturday afternoon. He was sitting on a pile fishing, when he fell into 16 feet of water. There was a strong current. The body has not yet been recovered. IITTEKCABGILL, Feb. 7. News received from Milford Sound states that a young man named William Quill, one of Simpson’s survey party on the Milford-Wabatipu track, is missing. About the 10th of January Quill was sent to plant a flag on the hill some miles from Greenstone, taking with him seven days’ provisions, and, not returning, search was made, but they could find no trace of him. When the Tarawera left the Sounds a few days ago there was no word of him, and it is now thought that he is either lost in the bush or met with an accident.
